Thunderbird Club

Actually, I suspect that they have been bleeding money for sometime and a backer has pulled the plug on additional funding having finally figured out that "users -> ??? -> profits" is just not a viable business plan. My suspicion is that the accountants were brought in to find the actual costs of each type of account then it was calculated what price needs to be asked to fire the appropriate set of customers to move into the black. At the end, phtobucket will be sold to someone else as a now profitable company - my estimate the sales will happen in 21-18 months.
Whoa! Yer like, the Nostradamus of the internet!:wideyed:

There's no way that one of the much anticipated Vintage Pros will be coming home with me until:

1. the Maranello Z is sold ... and there's zero interest here for a non-FSO, to the point I'm tempted to try my luck in the TB classifieds ... but it has a rosewood fretboard.

2. I sell the ChinaBird ... which would be painful, has no real resale value and is my first Bird.

They have 'Thunderbird Vintage Pro' in the name, what could possibly be wrong with them?

So, if these new Birds are built as solid as their predecessors, the worst case scenario, is replacing the pick-ups.
I would be none the wiser as i would have no other Birds in hand to compare.
@TBird1958 will though.
I'm taking the plunge myself, i have a feeling they are going to be good.

What's that neck plate ? Bacardi Bat logo ?

Yes it is. I love bats and that is one of the coolest bat-related images ever IMO.

@theFixer Here you go.

ok... I remember this pic now! I can't find even ONE of them out on the web! I'm startin' to wonder if you have something in common with @godofthunder59. He owns all the Hiwatts & you own all the Hamers!

What are the pups?

I'm hoping to just leave mine stock, the pups would have to be really bad before I'd replace them in this case. Between my Line6 and the GK I should be able to get tone I like.

I don't think you realize how long some of us have been at this :laugh:

Hi All: Lost our rhythm guitarist and need some power trio alternative rock suggestion. Any recommendations? Please no GRN Day or Blink 182. THX
I would go +1 on some bands already mentioned: Nirvana and Husker Du/Bob Mould. I would add the Ramones and early Joe Jackson (fun bass lines). Some Goo Goo Dolls tunes were "up tempo numbers" (as the kids call it these days). Everclear would certainly fit. You could also take a page from Ramones and others, by going back and covering songs from 50s and 60s (Eddie Cochran, The Sonics, etc.) with tempo at 90 mph.

Bands from this century would include Bass Drum of Death, The Thermals, Courtney Barnett and Jacuzzi Boys, as they are all trios. But your audience might not be familiar with most them, due to lack of terrestrial alternative radio these days except for college stations.

Me too, i think/hope they will knock it out of the park with this new one.

And yes, my GK/Ampeg rig should get it done for a little tone tweaking.

OOO... a presence knob? I'm familiar with that feature on a guitar amp. What sort of effect does it have on bass?

I never use it, trust me, being present in the same room with that amp even at low volume can be dangerous :roflmao:

Ah, that sucks.

The music store I mainly went to used to just keep them in a little tray at the counter with a bunch of little dividers (for the various thicknesses). I think the other music store around here also does that.
Yeah, that was the situation. 3 (diff brands/models) little tray boxes with dividers and colour codes sizes.
I don't know what I want so I grabbed 2 to start with.
