Thunderbird Club

I see. Yeah... tubes never hurt!

Every bass I've plugged into this amp, have all sounded great... and the key ingredient seemed to be that low-mid EQ knob. This 'bird is such a different beast. I spent a good chunk of time playing' around with EQ today. I'll say it again... this bird is just such a different beast... in look, feel, size, & sound! It's changed the entire way I approach the instrument, and what I try to get out of it! (Bass is so much cooler than guitar)

I have a scary feeling that once that White Bird is cradled.
All FSO's will go.
If it's the tone i'm expecting, it's all over.

Edit; as a matter of fact, one is already up here on the chopping block in the classifieds.

Bandwidth is not free. Every time a page with a linked photo is loaded, bandwidth is used. People do not work for free. Keeping a hosting company operating requires people to work there. Electricity is not free. Keeping servers working to be available when you want to access a file needs electricity.

I am always amazed by the outrage when something is not free. Even if it used to be free, you should have no expectation that it remains that way. Read the terms of service when you sign up for a "free account". First is that terms can be changed at anytime without notice. Second, you give up many rights to what you are doing. For instance, by signing up for TB, I have given up my copyright to what I write here. The rule of thumb is if something is free, it is very likely that YOU are the product; which is to say, if the service is free, in all probability information about you is being sold to someone else.

If there is no profit available, you will find that there is no service available. Consider your bands - would you pay to play in venues? You provide the service of live music and assume that you will get paid for that. There are very few that will absorb the costs of providing a service of any kind without expecting to get paid for the provision of that service.

For what it is worth, I pay for not only my internet service, but also for email and online storage. Some of you may think me a sucker for doing so, however, it substantially changes the contractual arrangement in my favour. I wouldn't have it any other way. I give up no rights to the contents of my email or files.

Will photobucket go out of business because of this? Who knows, but if they can't generate enough revenue to cover the costs of operating, that would have happened regardless.

It's the way they went about it, from zero (for some) to $40 a month WITH NO NOTICE. Got that?

I actually have been paying for first tier storage for three years with Fotofukit. I, too, received no notice of a change, only a locked account. As of now, my posted pix have not disappeared but neither can they be accessed from Fotofukit. In fact, my monthly fee was debited two days ago.

I back up EVERYTHING I store to the cloud so it will only be an inconvenience for me. But I certainly WON'T be giving Fotofukit any more of my money. I'm OK with continuing to pay the modest $3 a month if my posted pix stay posted.

Considering the large percentage of users who are not using Fotofukit for business it seems they could have come up with a more reasonable fee.

I guess they're now using big pharma as their business model.

What's the control layout?

I'm sure it will be beyond my means, but keep my in mind if/when you decide to part with that burst:thumbsup:

They typically have 2 volume controls and no tone control. The P pickup is reversed on the regular models and have a Strat input jack/plate on the face. The burst and my Blitz have 3 knobs (v-v-t) and the input on the butt end of the body, like on modern Gibson Birds.

I will keep you in mind if I sell. It will be pricey.

I will say this... as I've noodled on various tunes in the past, I would find myself thinking' "This would sound better on a P bass", or "this would sound killer on a Ric", and different things like that. In the short time I've had to play this 'bird... I haven't thought of anything other than rolling off the bridge pickup a little, or rolling back the tone knob a bit. I don't wannanother bass comin' along & f***in' up my vibe! I believe it's @hillerup who's sig says, "For me, there are basses and then there are Thunderbirds". I get that now! The sound and feel is unique. Thunderbird world, parallels the world of other basses. You can make an Ibanez sound like a Fender... but you can't make anything sound like a Thunderbird, other than another Thunderbird!

(BeeTeeDubz... I need another Thunderbird...)

The correct number of thunderbirds is n+1.

Well said!
And true.

I've seen those before - nice looking bridge.

One question though: How do you adjust the length (intonation)? I can't see an intonation screw anywhere...
There's a grub screw in each saddle carrier that locks into the channel wall. I'd post a picture but I'm between photo hosters:mad::rage::spit::)
