When I do sound I put a high pass eq on everything.
On bass amps, I start flat and adjust if I notice an issue. But it's pretty hard to tell what the audience hears when you're on stage.
The sound guy for our cover band likes to make the bass pretty juicy in FOH.

A while back I thought I was in striking distance of Marshall, but he's pulled ahead -- even ahead of our Queen!
Meanwhile, Geo is the only active TC member on the top 20 most messages list. And none of us are on the top 20 feedback scroes -- but that's because we tend to be happier with our gear and (I think) sell more directly to friends and clube members.

And why monitors (of whatever sort you prefer) become crucial for a band as the stage gets larger. Even if you can hear the guitarist's rig from 50-60 feet away, s/he sounds well behind you. And if you're following the drummer and someone else is following you, that delay is cumulative.

I will say the Sansamp VT is an average amp saver. I used that when I couldn't find an amp and cab that suited me. Got a Bass Driver first and it helped some but was was way too scooped and glassy. Got the VT (Ampeg tone), and talk about making average rigs sound great. I don't use it in front of the heads now--DI only to have some of what I want my bass to sound like in FOH.

Oddly enough I was curious about my bass EQ in FOH prior to run through and took a pic. I'm no expert and have no idea what the SG is hearing, but wasn't sure this is likely ideal. But it seems me changing the character might have helped. Who knows.

Great pics but I have a few questions-

Were you running through the SansAmp and the Ampeg in parallel or stereo? Though apparently there is only one channel for the bass. Which DAW are they using? and finally, what is an ABM?

I have one, changed the flat/matte "white" (mine was like pale yellow) to straight gloss white and put a pair of Gibson Vintage re-issues out of a 2021 NR in it:

Lots of people like the DeColas, but the super strong magnetic pull on the strings made this one hard to set up to my liking. Putting the Gibson re-issues in immediately solved the problem. Now it's one of my best playing basses, and sounds right up there with the best of them too.

I run to the Sansamp -
> out the parallel out (unaffected) to my Amp.
> DI to sound board (Behringer Air)/FOH.

Ashdown ABM bass head.

Getting more than a little nutty over this nut...

But produced sort of a revelation:

Working backward from measured gaps and diameters (which are easier to measure accurately than the centers of round grooves or string tops), the string centers on my 2018 are at 0.405" +/- 1/100", which is probably about my MOE and also coincidentally is the difference in string radii, in a 45/65/85/105 set.

Given I measured with strings at tension, all were a couple thousandths thinner than nominal, too.

0.4" centers, on-center, would give me 0.125" edge gap on the G side, and 0.0975" on the E side. At the nut.

Keepin' it real, If I can cut the finished width slots with handtools accurate to +/- a hundredth placement, it'll be a pretty good day.
