Jeez... kinda looks like they're pullin' the ol' iPhone routine. Word "magically" gets out about a year before the release of each new model just to get the murmur started, then every once in a while, you'll hear something about a new feature that it will have followed by a B.S. tentative release date. As the hype grows and the release date nears... they bump it back a little further and a little further. When they finally feel like the hype is near a piranha-like feeding frenzy level, they finally release nowhere near enough of them to meet the demand they've created, which helps keep the frenzy alive.
See, this is where I have an advantage. My Goth is still new to me!
I have an idea to toss your way, J.
Epiphone ain't droppin' that new 'bird until they're darn good-n-ready, and we have no way of knowing when that'll
really be (I'm sure it will be strategically placed somewhere between now & whenever the proposed 2018 Gibson's get released so they can maximize sales of both). The market is flooded with earlier Epi 'birds right now. You could grab one for $200 - $350 (mine was only $225 & I'm planning to grow old & die with it! That's some pretty cheap lovin'). That puts you in 'Birdland
now, without a huge investment, and makes the indefinite wait for the new VP much more bearable!

(yes... I'm an enabler)
