Thunderbird Club

As said a little cream is fine. Nothing against it. Carlo has a vintage bird that turned into a nice creamish colour and another one that didn't, both look awesome. I really hate that nicotinish yellow stain, but as said only seen it on FSO so far.

Another pic I dug out for you - back when I had severe GAS. That thing bugged me for months. Gaolee mentally helped me pulling the trigger and never looked back.

Haha kind off. I was afraid someone would snag it after it was hanging there for quite some times - they had a walnut and a Nikki Sixx, both were gone within 2 weeks upon arrival, the Cherry was there for some months, but anyday I prayed that it would stay. Had a new job and well went to the bank. They gave me the money and then I lived on beans for 3 months, got a newer, better job and fully paid it back within the first 2 salaries.

Nicely done, Sir! Well played:thumbsup:

Except for the Gibson they're all Epis. Stock and no chroming planned so nothing on most guy's collections here.

Can someone post a shot of their AW bird? My paranoia is telling me that it's getting creamier by the day. Looked up an old low-fi shot and it seemed like the pg and the finish are nearly matching.
Don't think poly yellows, but as said: Paranoia.

Poly definitely does yellow with time. I think it is the top clear coat that yellows, but I am no expert. Here's a shot of the back of my Telecaster basses.
1969 in nitro (four bolt) on the left as you look at the pic and 73 in poly (three bolt) on the right. Both were see through white originally.
Incidentally, you can see a little of the orange colour on the lower edge of the lower bout that the 73 picked up from it's case lining, that I referred to in an earlier post..

Actually pretty stupid in an ordinary working man's sense, but it had to be done and I would've regretted it if it was gone. Birds are so rare here.

Thomann is the only steady seller within reach, Gibson Birds still almost never came up and I'd have to buy stuff sight unseen, like the Allen Woody. Always keep my fingers crossed when I order there. Talking about thomann and the local store: Another guy told me the local store's Gibson contract already expired. Pretty bummed. Couldn't even order a case for the Woody. :vomit:

See through white as in real white? Like fender olympic?

The first one is partially due to the warm colour light that are in my living room along with fighting the natural light coming in the windows behind the basses. The second one is much closer to what it really looks like, maybe a bit creamier than the pic but not much.
I'm with you on the FSO yellowing looking terrible, but on Placid Lake Blue, the discolouration looks amazing. I dislike Placid Lake Blue when it's not discoloured but when it turns that green I love it.
That's how I feel about 7ender's "Fiesta Red". It's rare, but when I see it on a vintage piece, I hafta go change my pants

I actually like LPB and CAR aged or not, their best colours imo.
Second pic looks pretty cool.

Back when I started I wanted to have a Fiesta Jazz MIM. Was a nice bass, but little did I know back then.

I wanted something different for quite a while now(a 2x single coil bass actually), but never found another FSO like that one, so I guess it just wasn't ment for me.

The Woody definately is something different and I can comfortably live with that - single coils or not.

Surely you could order a case for the Woody, couldn't you? There's no rosewood in it... maybe it would arrive the same year you order it;)

That's what I've been doing thus far. They've just gotta hate me over there. I bought my first bass at GC. It was an Ibanez TMB-100 that I bought off the wall. Then, in my search for a better bass without spending more money, I found a KSD Burner online, so I returned the Ibanez & ordered that in. I repeated that cycle 4 more times before finding this Goth. If you subtract the amount I spent on shipping these various basses...I never spent over $300.00 total! I'm amazed that they don't run the other direction when they see me walk in the joint!

Keeping in mind that I'm only a few months into my journey as a bass player... I'd really like to find a place where I can walk in & see a good variety of basses. I wanna get my hands on 'em & see what's what. I wanna feel the necks, compare pickups, & all that stuff, just to get a sense of what the various manufacturers and models are bringing to the table.
Maybe keep an ear open for a fairly local TB or Thunderbird Club GTG (Get together). Don't know if you guys do that, but I've enjoyed and learnt a bit at a couple of OzBass Sydney GTGs.

If it were in the states & my Les Paul were sold, I'd be all over that like a stoner on a box of Cap'n Crunch! I don't really feel like dealing with a $300 customs charge OR a 3 month wait, so I guess you'll hafta buy that one!;)

If it were chrome, possibly. But I have neither the space, nor the funds, having just spent that sort of money on my custom built 'dream' bass. There's only room for one and here she comes, here she comes - the white vintage-style one ... because Overend (even though it will be a IV not a II).

Once my mind is made up and I'm set on something, the distractions tend to get shut out. I decided I wanted an NR41 quite early in the piece, the hardest thing after that was deciding on the colour - midnight blue, some sort of pelham-ish blue, bright yellow or red, ummm errrrr, ummmmm, RED!

Not sure what they call the colour officially but as you can see the grain is visible in both basses and that is not the case with many Telecaster Basses I have seen.

A friend actually bought this particular 73 brand new and I bought it from someone else years later. I remember seeing it brand new and it was white and the grain was easily visible from new.

Wow - but look at that RRP! Now selling for A$2000 less than RRP, which I humbly suggest is a 'real' price.

Also, what's up with the last line of the description?
All this and the Midtown Standard Bass is overflowing with pure Gibson class.

Yeah, the less said about that the better and their stock system is terrible - they can never find anything, even when it's supposed to be in stock.

Months ago, when I was still slightly confused about my future bass requirements and I was sniffing around an EB3L, maybe 5 seconds passed before they offered me the 'online' price.

I think it's called Blonde

You mean like this:
SOLD - F/S: Sadowsky Metro UV70 - Transparent White

Pretty crazy. Especially the left one.
