That killer gear is a little too close to that sump pump, if it dies, and they always do...when its raining like hell and flooding is of biblical proportions, it wont be a good thing ;-(

Does anyone know if the 2015 TBird pups (the exposed coil humbuckers) will fit in an earlier model Gibson TBird without routing the body?

Good call! I guess if the sump overflowed and did some damage to the cab, the owner could just add an "ER" to the end of the name on the cab.

They are most definitely bigger and won't fit without routing. I don't have a measurement because I'm not where the bass is, but I'll try to remember to measure this evening. I tend to get distracted and turn into a flake, so you may have to rattle my cage once or twice. I haven't had them out, so I don't know how deep they are.
Any thoughts on what the specs on these supposed 2018 Thunderbirds would be like? I think I'd collapse if there were really a left-handed model, with two-piece bridge.
WHAT?!?!? The 2015's aren't the end of the product line for T'birds....shoot, there goes my retirement investment...I hope Gibson comes back down to earth and makes the List price a bit more realistic instead of inflating it just for the sake of making bassists run to other brands...dont throw stuff at me ;-)

If your recollection is that they are bigger (which is what I suspected but was hoping was not the case) that's all I need to know.
The reason I was asking is that I had a lead on a sweet newer model Gibson NR and I was kinda thinking it would be cool to drop the 2013/14 EB pups (which I assume are the same as the 2015 bird pups) and the EB controls into a Gibson NR Bird.
The plan was to buy a cheap used EB and the NR then flip the electronics over to the bird and part out the EB. I could have done it cheaper than just buying a 2015 Bird and would have had a very cool and unique bass to boot but I would have only done it if I could flip the Bird back to original condition if I ever wanted to sell it. Routing the NR would eliminate that option.
Guess I'll just have to set my sights on a pristine 2015 Bird instead.
