I finally found my thick necked Firebird (or
it found
me), and I'm not letting' it go. They're
way to hard to find!
I appreciate your advice, and your taking the time to share it with me. It's kinda like I have a big brother watching out for me

. My monetary situation
demands that I take my time. I don't have a choice. But, I want to be ready when the time comes. No need to take any longer than necessary when the time actually comes. Anytime somebody suggests a brand or model, I dig in & start researching it to see if it might work out for me. It's proving to be much harder than I expected, and I'm starting to think I may have to look somewhere other than Gibson to satisfy my need

. I guess what I'm trying to say is... I am being patient, but I am searching aggressively, trying to formulate my plan for when the time comes. I am a true gear hound, but just cuz I get excited about something doesn't mean I'm gonna rush right out & get it. I understand how my excited manor of posting, and my exclamations like "I GOTTA have it!" could lead you to believe that I'm being an impulsive twit, but usually it just means I really dig whatever it is that we're talking about at the time, would like to have one, and may pursue one in the future at some point.
I am looking forward to taking a trip down to Chicago to stomp around some of the music stores down there. I suspect that will teach me a lot about which directions I should be looking.
I'm also aware that opinions are subjective. "Chunky" to you, probably doesn't mean "chunky" to me. Though it's been a while... I've fought this war for a lotta years with guitar (it was considerably easier to find guitars that were comfortable, than basses for some reason). When somebody suggests something, or if I spot something myself... it just gives me something to research... not necessarily something to buy.
I don't
want a 5 string, but the time I spent with that Sqwar Jazz 5 told me enough to know that it's a option I may need to consider.
I genuinely appreciate your concern, and your willingness to express that to me, and you can rest assured that I will be discussing my thoughts, ideas, and decisions with you guys before I actually go out & drop any real coin on something.
