I got into playing bass in 2012 when I bought a used Ibanez 300. It was my first stringed instrument. A few months later I bought my 2013 Gibson TBird and found this group of enablers on TB. The rest is history, a short history of TBird acquisition.

I'm no good at playing and I know it. I blame it on starting too late and the fact that I don't have the time to invest in taking it to the next level. Still I persist and enjoy playing when I can and I really enjoy playing with my kids that are way more talented than me at such young ages.

Here's one I managed to get through without screwing up too bad and I know we need a singer, LOL.



I'll keep doing it as long as it keeps being fun. :)

I have friends who both played in the symphony and swore by those big Volvo wagons before they downsized them. Could easily fit 2 double basses in the back w/the back seat down. They also put well over 200k on one before retiring it for another one.

It was very exciting to hire into GM's former Fisher Body Engineering Group. Fisher Body was renamed to GM Die Engineering in 1988 and I was hired in 1990. But the old Fisher Body guys were still there and in fact we still had WW2 vets working there and not all from the Allied side. Lots of Germans, and Italians with heavy accents. If they liked you, they'd teach you. I miss all those old timers and now the guys that were on the younger side are the older guys now.

As for the work that I do, I don't design the cars or the car panels. I do the engineering that turns flat sheet metal into car panels and throughout my career I've had the pleasure of working in many different departments in die design.

I was able to be a part in Cadillac's resurgence. I did all the engineering on the CTS bodyside panels. All three interations thus far. It was nice to have them come back to me for gen 2 and 3 because of my teams success and our technical knowledge of the prior programs.

I've worked on all the truck programs from pickups to SUV's and most recently the crossovers known as the Lambdas which are the Traverse, Acadia & Enclave which killed the minivans and Jimmy style SUV's.

My favorite program was bringing the Camaro back in 2010. It was so exciting to bring back my favorite muscle car with a team of my peers knowing how well it was going to be received from all the automotive press that were buzzing with anticipation from the first whispers of its return. I also got to do the 2016.

Of course I did a bunch of work on less impressive vehicles like minivans, cargo vans and econoboxes. But sprinkled in there, there were cool projects like the SSR and the Hummers(I did the doors on the H2).

You have led an incredibly cool life! Gone are the days in which aptitude, inclination, and a strong work ethic were all you needed to find a job like yours. You've been able to leave your mark on the world several times over! Most folks are lucky if they can do it once! Ride the wave my friend... and may your shore always be on the horizon:cool:

There ya go livin' another dream that most people will never get to enjoy! I'd love to be able to jam with my kids! My oldest daughter seems to be as passionate about music as I was at her age, and the younger 2 both show interest and aptitude, so I just may get that chance:D:thumbsup:

Playing with your own kid(s) is an absolute blast. My son is a far better musician than I ever will be, but I sure do enjoy playing with him when the opportunity arises. Even when he rolls his eyes and says "jeez, dad, learn to play!" It makes me incredibly proud to have a kid who can do what he does. He gets his talent from my wife. That's the only plausible explanation.

Just got to watch your video! That is some heavy tone yer generatin' there! Pretty badass rehearsal studio ya built too! How old are yer boys (if you don't mind my asking)?

The first new car my dad ever bought, and the first car of my memory, was a 1970 AMC Rambler Rebel. He bought it in 1969, & drove it off the showroom floor for 1700bux (that's about what it costs to replace headlight housing nowadays ain't it?)! This is just a crappy pic I found on the web... but it looks identical to the one my Dad bought, except ours had plain steel rims with chrome hubcaps. I was born in 1970, so I don't remember a whole lot about it... but I remember that the horn was the coolest! All ya had to do was squeeze the steering wheel to honk it!
