Hello my bird brethren, I haven't been hanging out much lately for several reasons. The first being in April I went back to working for myself, not a bad thing at all, I couldn't be happier! Starting back up put a crimp in the gear budget, I sold 10-12 basses to keep things on a even keel ( no Thunderbirds were hurt in the culling ). Now Things are very busy, I am doing antique restoration and sales, Handyman work, Badbird products and just about anything I can do to bring $ in. Point being we reevaluated our budget and new gear purchases are on hold while we pay down some niggling debt. I even cancelled my order for the new Epi vintage Pro. I also joined a Fleetwood Mac tribute Rumorz, we are playing all over the country. Great people having a blast and making good $. Things are changing quickly to rise to the next level, new management has some exciting plans for us. For this gig I travel with a 69 7ender P that is getting a lot of playing time, it ain't a TBird but it fits the gig, though I did come across a picture Mcvie playing a NR. Who's That is progressing nicely, in fact we have a gig tonight. Irondequoit High School class of '77 reunion. Tomorrow night a Rumourz gig In Buffalo NY, last weekend we were in Wisconsin lol, next stop Vegas! So I'll be watching you guys posting your beautiful birds and I'll chime in when time allows.

I once had a very drinkable lager from Australia called Razor's Edge, I think. It was off the market for a while and I found it again...and it was so horrible I threw 5 and a half of the sixer away. The difference was that the newer stuff had been brewed and bottled in Canada. The Fostah's available in the states is actually Canadian for Australian for Beah too. Maybe it's not Australia and is in fact the fault of Canadistani brewers.

Hmmm. Bee Gees are from Isle of Man half a world away. Can't recall the details, but as I recall, Isle of Man is simultaneously British but not British, hence the zero income tax.

I didn't recall that until you mentioned it. Thanks. Rightly or wrongly, I always think of them as The Bee Gees from Brisbane though.

Here's a satellite pic of western Washington state, as you can see, there's quite a bit of smoke in the air. It's supposed to hit about 95 this afternoon, likely to be rather unpleasant, aside from grocery shopping it may be an inside day for the Queen. Not a bad thing, I have beer, A/C lots of basses, electric trains and of course my sweet kitty to have a nap with later.

Those same conglomerates have also been buying up craft brewers, some being integrated into the family of brands, others being allowed to run as stand alones with leverage in the distribution channels. It opens an interesting opportunity for skilled brewers - start a craft brewery, grow the business, sell out, repeat.

InBev is super huge. Kind of like Fender buying up smaller manufacturers to get the name. I'm friends with the owner of Flying Bison, and even they are partly owned by Matts Brewing. (Utica NY)

Until I visit NZ and then I revert to NZ after a couple of days.
Then I go home and in a couple of days I sound Australian again.

In southern England I have cockney accent (which is the first cousin of Aussie anyway) -- it's not deliberate it just happens.

After years in Scotland, Aussies thought me British, but by now I'm back to full-strength Strine -- every vowel a diphthong and tortured to within an inch...

You can always tell people from the southern US from New Yorkers - the W is in front of the vowel in New York, after the W in the south. A dog is a dwog in New York. In the south, it's a dawg. Once you know that, it's easier to keep it all straight.

I wouldn't know the difference between NZ and Oz by ear. That's probably unforgivable, but there you have it. My wife was born and grew up within earshot of the Bow Bells, but she managed to shed most of that accent by the time I met her. It still leaks out every so often, even after being in the US for more than 35 years. Accents are really entertaining when you get into them with the right attitude.
