You can always tell people from the southern US from New Yorkers - the W is in front of the vowel in New York, after the W in the south. A dog is a dwog in New York. In the south, it's a dawg. Once you know that, it's easier to keep it all straight.

New Yorkers aren't that easy to characterize, IMO. My upstate, Capital Land dialect is nothing like what you'll hear in NYC or out in Buffalo but it's pretty close to to what is spoken along the I-90 corridor through to the Finger Lakes Region.

I've never said dwog and definitely say dawg.

Might as well stay inside and drink today, the air quality is insipid - Forest fires in British Columbia.

That's exactly what I did. I'm looking out of the Columbia Tower right now, and you can just barely see Alki Point. It's going to be a few more days before this clears out, from the sounds of things. And, I have three outdoor shows coming up in the next little over a week. Smoke and heat. Everyone's favorite thing to be out in.

For what it's worth, I'll lapse into all kinds of dialects because I grew up in rural Ohio, spent a lot of time in the North Carolina hills as a kid, and then lived in New York or Connecticut for almost ten years before moving to Seattle. Each left a mark that leaks out at odd times. Especially if there is any properly prepared liquid involved.

Yep. Tried the gold top one about 9 months ago and loved the sound, but went for the Gibson Midtown instead. Not regretting the choice, but feel like I still need the JC. And it is red; I need a red bass.

I may be a New Yorker, but i don't have the typical accent you'd might expect.
Most people seem to think i'm from somewhere else during chance encounters.

I wonder if one of the bands scheduled for the Buffalo Iron Works tomorrow night dropped out and they picked up Rumourz to fill the slot? Easy enough to call BIW and find out.

Hello my bird brethren, I haven't been hanging out much lately for several reasons. The first being in April I went back to working for myself, not a bad thing at all, I couldn't be happier! Starting back up put a crimp in the gear budget, I sold 10-12 basses to keep things on a even keel ( no Thunderbirds were hurt in the culling ). Now Things are very busy, I am doing antique restoration and sales, Handyman work, Badbird products and just about anything I can do to bring $ in. Point being we reevaluated our budget and new gear purchases are on hold while we pay down some niggling debt. I even cancelled my order for the new Epi vintage Pro. I also joined a Fleetwood Mac tribute Rumorz, we are playing all over the country. Great people having a blast and making good $. Things are changing quickly to rise to the next level, new management has some exciting plans for us. For this gig I travel with a 69 7ender P that is getting a lot of playing time, it ain't a TBird but it fits the gig, though I did come across a picture Mcvie playing a NR. Who's That is progressing nicely, in fact we have a gig tonight. Irondequoit High School class of '77 reunion. Tomorrow night a Rumourz gig In Buffalo NY, last weekend we were in Wisconsin lol, next stop Vegas! So I'll be watching you guys posting your beautiful birds and I'll chime in when time allows.

That's fantastic Scott! Being able to piece it all together is a real accomplishment. Best wishes for a satisfying and lucrative enough journey.

Here's a satellite pic of western Washington state, as you can see, there's quite a bit of smoke in the air. It's supposed to hit about 95 this afternoon, likely to be rather unpleasant, aside from grocery shopping it may be an inside day for the Queen. Not a bad thing, I have beer, A/C lots of basses, electric trains and of course my sweet kitty to have a nap with later.

Is got us all the way down here in the "other" Vancouver. The haze is very thick in PDX land

The vibe that I've picked up, is that most T-bird players seem to echo your sentiment. When somebody like Victor Wooten comes along... I gotta watch it for the "WOW" factor if nothing else!

I don't know, man... To be honest it didn't do it for me. It was okay when he reverted to playing the groove, but every time he went overboard he totally lost the groove....

That is definitely NOT a Classic Pro-IV...

That is a Limited Edition Custom Shop bolt-on necked Epi bird... Though not neckthrough, those are pretty nice basses too.

Where's the chrome? There's no chrome.

Broon? It's weird seeing it pop up in the USA -- you see it on TV shows and things even. When I was in the Toon once, I asked the lass behind the bar for a 'dog', tryin' to show I could taak the local lingo and that. She was a student from that London and had nee bliddy idea what I was on aboot. After that I confined myself to requesting 'broon ale'.

Had a pint of 'real' ale once. Dishwater it was. Never again. Otherwise, on the odd occasions I drink, it's Czech/German pilsner or lager.

German Weissbier all the way here - Especially Erdinger, Paulaner or Fransiskaner, and in particular Erdinger Dunkel...

Don't mean to offend anyone and sorry if its taken the wrong way. But we always refer to Fosters as a quart of oil.

I usually refer to Fosters as "Foster vand" (Danish for amniotic fluid)...

It's just plain impossible to get drunk on Fosters - Remembering an evening of partying at a friends place, who was serving Fosters: After a couple of hours drinking 12-15 Fosters, there were still no effect of the alcohol...

Oh yeah. There are good ones.
The mainstream were designed to be slammed down cold to refresh and to get you drunk. Basically.
