Thunderbird Club

Random TBird sighting- upcoming movie- American Satan. Also appears to be a skirt, boots and stockings of some type involved. Is our Queen making her film debut? Perhaps not, those would be GK cabs.

What the Whisky Tango Foxtrot!

I think you're right!

My dream/signature model Bird would be a Warwick with the Buzzard headstock, but reversed, and their big ol' volute. $$ pickups, HAJI down the neck in LED's, and if course LED side markers. I'd be happy with their traditional evangkol neck but maple with walnut stringers would do. Ebony or pau ferro fingerboard. Red metallized finish with two metallized black stripes like Trujillo's sig model, black chrome hardware...or maybe just black.

so typical. A wall of mesa and peavey 412 guitar cabs and no bass cabs. Just give the hot girl with the epi goth a DI and keep her low in the mix but heavy on the spotlight.

I played the classic pro at practice on Friday. I think I have found the rebel bass. I'm glad I chose that over what would have basically been my goth with a white paint job and fret dots. Did the 2006 epi custom shop white have the same wide neck as the goth? Kind of looked like it in some of the pics.

(The 2006 bolt on I never checked out in favor of jumping on the classic pro instead)

I like the slim neck of the classic pro. Glad I am not hunting for a bolt on with that profile anymore. For a wah pedal more than I was willing to pay for a bolt on, I have a neck through, and it just feels right!

Right along with the geddy Lee and peavey fury/foundation necks.

My beater relic fury in my hands now is making me say my dream bird would have a 2 piece maple/maple peavey neck with a bird shaped stock, bolted to a mahagony bird body(wings) with a maple/walnut center block , Peavey VFL pickups and a badass II bridge or the new one with Geddy Lee signature on it. 1.5 nut and 7.5 radius on the neck. VVT. I'd take USA Thunderbird pickups like the classic pro as well, but the VFLs match the radius, and are super punchy, especially with a maple center block. Not buckers, but don't sound like singles either, although they are. Similar size as bird buckers

VFLs on my maple foundation

Fortune is relative, as I recall you have two daughters - No bass can compare.
I do have some nice basses and it's my choice to be single, some of you know greater fortune than I'll ever imagine.

That's why I feel so lucky to have all my cousins and my aging aunt and uncle.
I'd do anything for them and that's worth more then any material thing in this world.

Hey @TBird1958, you have all of us as your kids. :)

Yeah... the way the Pope "likes" God?

Just about... :)

Love classic Gibson/Epiphone shaped guitars/basses, and Epi's are amazing good value for money and offer cool models that you cannot get under the Gibson brand. Fortunately I am in a position where I can afford getting the stuff I like when good deals show up. :)

And you think that is bad? Then check out this video of Yngwie Malmsteen and they way he treats his backing musicians:

They are pretty much identical neck/nut wise to the Goth models - At least my Korean Alpine White model is...

Oh, I see - as a matter of fact this is an issue I have w/T-birds also. I feel it's because it wasn't designed from a players point of reference and/or the designer (Dietrich) didn't do enough (or any) player feedback in the prototype stage. I ride my birds closer to the neck to have a more conducive left hand relationship to the fingerboard and I have a permanent sore rib from the upper top body edge interfacing there having played it for 40 years. Sorry for misinterpreting what you stated. :)

No problem at all! :) That’s why I asked. So we’re in complete agreement. Too bad about the poor ergonomics. Not that it bothers me personally. Just really nitpicking.

Short version? Aye.
West Ham was my wife's preferred club to support when she was a little girl in east London. Probably because they had a clubhouse and practice pitch fairly close by. Because of her, I like seeing them do well when I actually notice. Sorry 'bout that.

Monday morning here, but why not.
My dream Bird would be a Fender Bird.

It would be based on a reverse body. Painted shell pink nitro, but top bound in parchment white. Back could have a tummy rout like the current TBirds.
Neck would be 56/ 57 P Bass specs ie small headstock, 1 3/4 at the nut, Fender vintage fretboard radius (7 1/4 inch) and V in profile. Obviously maple board, but parchment white bound and blocked with real MOP.
Truss rod adjustment at the heal.
Reverse gear elephant ear long stem Kluson style tuners, Scott's nifty bridge and tailpiece, one Larry's pickguards in parchment. 2 X Thunderbuckers mounted in the 60s position. Oh and pickup and bridge covers.
That's similar to the Fenderbird project. I would prefer a V shaped neck and really little vintage size frets, which I don't have, but it's close enough. No binding, but I don't really want binding. The fretboard is rosewood, so I won't be sending it anywhere, and it's only 1-5/8" instead of 1-1/2". My cave dwelling hands aren't all that sensitive anyway. Babicz bridge and a split rail pickup. The functional departure is headstock adjustment. I really don't like the heel adjustment at all. My P has that, and it's built so you have to loosen the strings and half-remove the neck to adjust it. It's a PITA.
