Forty Years ago, a Thursday night gig in July at the Whisky a Go Go. Recorded on a Teac 450 cassette recorder with a mic in front of the sound booth. Steve "ThunderBucker" Soar on Telecaster. Me playing my '77 Thunderbird, fingers, through two Sunn Coliseums and two SVT 8-10s. I played all the other songs with a stainless pick but this heavily Free influenced tune needed a lighter touch. Picture, from an earlier gig, was taken by Bibi Hansen, Beck's mom.
Petty was at this show, I had to switch back to the P after this song because the front strap peg pulled out of the 'Bird. He remarked how much better the TBird sounded than the P.

Mars Cowling was also at the show, Pat Travers' bass player, although I didn't know it that night. They were headlining the weekend. He was surprised when I was setting up their sound check, my day gig was sound man/stage manager there. Nice guy and a great player. He gave me two sets of Rotosound 66s!
How big was your band/were your bands? You often talk about guys, I guess, most people know, but I never heard of your band before, BUT it sounds big. Especially 40 years ago this was what my parents, uncles etc listened to stylewise.
So this greeted me when I opened the case of my '66 custom color Cardinal Red Thunderbird II. View attachment 1199050
Great that it's not at the fretboard doesn't seem that bad since you expected it.
We don't litter our club with childish hate, because someone plays a different set of pups, has a different brand on the headstock, etc. Some clubs are really a cesspool of envy and entitlement.Hey, how come "Thunderbird Club" ALWAYS get top position at least once/twice a day in "Basses"?
Plus we are a biker gang. Somebody confirmed that in another thread somewhere.
Fixer did that, before he bought his own bird and became part of the Birdidos.
