Thunderbird Club

Thanks you guys, for the friendly interest! And thanks again Ken, I'm betting those'll do- I've never tried either one, but I'm thinking Nickel is less overwhelmingly bright than SS... I play a lot of reggae, I'm afraid it's influenced my taste and perception.

I'll look into dealing with them Kat, thanks for the link- maybe they'll sell me a single 65 of the RN. Didn't mean to be lazy, I'm just off one thing and onto another, thought I'd just leave that request there... lol! Thank you very much Kat!

Gotta love this place.
BSOL is very good, but can be very slow to ship.

You could possibly have a metal branding iron machined out with the TA logo on it then just get it red hot and brand the bass. I personally wouldn't freehand it, too easy to screw up.

Then again, there's always this look...

If you have that kinda wood burning skills, I'd love to see it, but I think our wise and insightful Queen has a brilliant idea. That bass is really something to be proud of! I would have an easier time tattooing my flesh, than I would something like that:nailbiting:

Uber - everything happens for a reason, and your being let go might just be the best reason you've had in a long time to pull together a truly kick ass band.

Listening to your story it's clear you don't have any bad karma coming out of the situation. You did the honest and mature thing coaching your drummer to be more reliable vs the BL approach which was clearly a set up to create a situation that would warrant termination of the drummer. Thhe fact that the BL expected your compliance with the scheme to spring a trap on the drummer tells me your BL has some serious ethical issues and all the bad karma that goes along with them.

Looks like the BL wasn't nearly as concerned with improving the drummers reliability as he/she was in just canning the member. Your nurturing and thoughtful approach to coaching the drummer to start being on time or risk losing his job was the right thing to do and if the BL was at all concerned about salvaging the drummer he/she would have agreed with you and thanked you for the help. The BLers end goal here should be obvious - get rid of anyone he wants to by hook or crook and force any band member to go along with the convoluted scheme or risk losing their own job too. You don't need those kind of power games in a well functioning band or any other part of your life.

You took the high road, and I'm sure it will lead to more fulfilling work with fewer compromises and hopefully less petty drama. Be positive and look forward in life, your old BL isn't worth the negative energy required to look back on.

Thank you! While I am prone to being misunderstood (also one of the key issues with my problems with BL), this is close enough.

In a conversation we had when he called back after the firing, he proposed a hypothetical situation between 3 friends, to which the only correct answer was to lie/omit and let him pull one over on a mutual friend, and if I provided any sort of warning because I was concerned for "their" friendship, that was the wrong answer and I was to be fired from BL's life as well as band.(yes I am blocked on FB and all mention of me has been taken off the band FB page as if I never existed) He really needs a lackey with no conscience. Something I can not do as a moral person with 10 years of extra life experience over this guy. I cannot simply be under his command. This also applied to how band issues were handled.

It sucks for me since I have to start over and he gets to continue with HIS brand that I helped get to a higher level. The departed singer is still my friend and will even do 1-2 song cameos in the future if I get this going. It may require me to spend some time in San Diego where my interested singer is. But I am going for a pro level premier tribute, they are using Craigslist. True I posted on Craigslist tonight but for ONE member, not 2. And the SD contingency alspnhas a possible guy to work on that spot (guitar 2nd vox). (As well as drums)

A former drummer who was dick move ghost fired by same BL is also open to work for me.

All the dude had to do was recognize my band saving efforts, rather than fire me, and he would have me still doing my best to keep toxicity together. But no. Now that douche has more competition to worry about.

And for all of you reading, the lure of the BIRD has contributed me wanting to continue this and try to start my own at a more pro level. It may take a while, but I will overtake him.

Even if I have to be an N=1 birdman for a while. See my next post...

If you don't do a really clean job of it the chances that it'll look like ass are high. If you have the skills, then have at it!

I don't think I'd do that.
If nothing else practice a lot and make a PG out of wood that you can just try it out with first.

What the guys say...

It's a shame, all of it. But seemingly some people will be dicks. No 2 ways around it.
He is in his own world. This I can see but there is no fighting it.

One bird I can say is essentially the same e as a Gibson just made overseas rather than one or 2 I have to say "its a bolt on but still pretty good" is good enough for me. Bolt on is good for fender, peavey Warwick FNAs, but once I had a neck through bird. A bolt on can go. I can use one of my Peavey's as a backup for now. When the money comes in from my new soad tribute, another bird, even a bolt on limited edition perhaps, like TV silver, may be.something to look at. For now I need $ and the goth has to go somewhere else.

Well folks, I don't think I have posted about this, but I have had some difficulty playing this summer. I have Carpal Tunnel Syndrome, and apparently have had it for about 6 years. But, this summer, it has been terrible; probably as a result of kayaking and other activities. I have done minimal practicing during august as it wasn't just tingling and numbness, but has progressed to pain.

Fortunately, I will be having surgery next week and two weeks following and expect to be fully cured. But practicing will suffer for a few weeks during the convalescence period. And kayaking season is now done for me. But, I will be fine for skiing season.

Surgery today; left hand. Right hand in two weeks.

Going to be interesting as I have not cancelled my lesson Tuesday night. I did warn the teacher. We will work on rhythm exercises and other non-playing things.
