Yeah, that Jeff Beck guy can play. Too bad he has the same barber as Nigel Tufnel. I saw him many years ago with Stevie Ray Vaughn. The encore/finale was really something With Beck, Vaughn and Jeff Healy on stage together.

Tal is a great player. Then I listened to some of her solo material and it was terrible. It demonstrates that playing and composing are different and unrelated skills.

She is an absolutely stellar bass player. I love her read on Jazz. She can dig in & groove hard, explore and improvise without stepping on toes, and solo like a master. I've been listening to her a lot lately. Unfortunately... I have to agree with you. Her original stuff is pretty friggin' hard to listen to.

Conversely, listen to Ida Nielsen (bass player for 3rd Eye Girl, Prince's back up band). Her original material is great funky stuff.
