Thunderbird Club

Just my opinion and 1/2 a cent. But most custom made Bird p/up's cost. It's all just personal preference and matter of choice. I would only gripe myself if something didn't sound good, there's a lot of price points. Long as you feel you are getting what you paid for.....
Oh, I understand that... but if I have 400bux in my pocket, lookin' to buy T-bird pups, and have a choice of going to a company that does a good job on a bunch of different pups, or a company is passionate about Thunderbirds and specializes in Thunderbird pickups exclusively (as well as being favorably reviewed by everyone I know that uses them)... well... the choice seems obvious;)

Why did the band disband? Did you only do outdoor gigs?

(Edited)
Didn't disband so much, but our commitment to a gig is over. It's a relaxed scene, and there's another guy or two who can play the gig. It's understood that if we're not gigging I can take up other work. It's bread, is how we see it.

Am I the only one who actually really likes the stock TB+ pickups?

I like the stock TB+ on the four string. I am looking to makes changes on the Pro-V. Something in it ain't right and I waffle between it being the pickups and the preamp. This week, I am thinking that perhaps changing out/eliminating the preamp is all I need to do. I have also thought about changing out both pickups and preamp (but then I would never know what the weak spot is). Still thinking; at some point a course of action will become obvious.

Ignore this space... had a fit of temporary insanity, selling my TE head. It's been in the classifieds too, but I think I'm going to hit the brakes.

I'm in general modality of moving a little more methodically these days. Yesterday I fell across an oddly-configured passageway in the building I work in as a carpenter/painter, went headlong, sprawling across the opening. No injury, just an annoying abrasion on my shin. I laid there a minute, laughing quietly, the 14" pull-saw, having fallen dead-flat on its side (thankfully) laying harmlessly near my right hand... a tour of the building (they do tours 3 days a week) had passed by not minutes before I came motoring through to my hapless, awkward disposition on the hardwoods.

So I'm really trying to cool my little old jets. Pulling my amp off the block. And my head.

What don’t you like about them?
I don't actually have any experience with them! I was just copping the opportunity to do that... sorry.

It seems to me they're actually a well-liked pickup. But we humans are always looking to improve something, it's hard for us to not do that, I think.

I'm a pretty fun dude at gatherings...

Oh, ok. :) I thought that meant that you didn’t like them. Yeah, not referring to anyone here, but a lot of people get caught up with upgrading and modifying without really experiencing what they already have.

The only T-Bird pickups that I've actually played much have been the stock set and pre on the Pro-IV, and the Deep Sixx set I have now. The Sixxes have been pretty good, but I don't think they sound much like what I understand of the stock TBs.
