They’re the stock Epi pickups and yes to the wiring as you see it, I’ll post the diagram when I get home tonight
Thanks! It will be helpful for guys with similar pickups. Won't apply to two wire (and lead and braid) pups including Chinabuckers and sixties type clones.

What's the pickup(s) you're using? Are they two leads and a ground (in red wrap)? It appears that way to me. Do you have a link to the Duncan schematic? Thanks!
I posted a link from Duncan on page 2239, but it's for a jazz with a push pull. Here's one for for a P-bass with VT and a mini toggle https://docs.google.com/gview?embed...-content/uploads/2016/05/Pbass_1V_1T_mtSP.pdf

First post Irma, post medical madness bass sendoff...seems like it's been years in the making.

...and a current photo of yours truly. Toothache that turned into a zoster virus attack. Major pain from my jaw into temple for three days. Now under control with penicillin, oxycodone, prednisone, and acycolvir. More legal drugs than I've ever taken at one time.

I'm still deaf in my left ear, hopeful it will improve soon.
Damn that sucks! Hope you get better soon!
Nice bass by the way! (As usual :roflmao:)

Actually you can, the switch sits in the middle , two wires should do it

Hmmm... Series hey.
A question though, on some 2 pickup basses I'm told having both pickups on full leads to a scooped sound.
If having the series 'on' gives the effect of both on full, does that present the scooped sound? Or, is the series switch 'on' the remedy to the scoop ?
Good question. I find that a scooped sound is great for noodling in the basement and when the mix is really sparse. Get cranked up with a bunch of loud guitars, and scoop disappears. That's un-Bird-like. I eq in a lot of low mid and a bit less high mid when things start to get iffy and muddy. And cut bass, if it's boomy.

I just sent that to Steve at ThunderBucker Ranch. Hope to get a reply and will post.
I can see how modern TB pickups would be series/parallel capable. If I remember right, the ground isn't a wire - it's the sheathing around the lead, but when you think about the pickup's construction and materials, there's no metal cover for that to be grounded to. So, I don't see why you couldn't put a lead to the sheathing and go from there.

Hey fellow 'bird brains I need some help, I want a decent mid-line gig bag to be able to grab and go that will fit my 2015 'bird as well as the other more standard P and J shapes, a Ric too...I've been down all the typical roads, the 'bird specific no-name bags on eBay and amazon, also I have a Gator ProGo for 2 basses that would fit the bill, but its for 2 basses, I know Gator makes a single but its $150 (before you do the dance) which defeats my mid-line requirement, would prefer to stay around $70 only because it will be a beater bag....anyone have luck with anything else out there worth mentioning? Interested in the Fender FB620 but no one, not even Fender appears to have the interior dimensions for it.

I use the RokSak. They make a specifically tailored bass case for Thunderbirds. I've been using them for several years now on many instruments, and I have nothing bad to report. Lots of pockets for other things too, like cables, sheet music, even a mobile phone slot.

Can't find any exact pictures of the case online, only older versions and cases that are the same but a different shape, so I will describe. The case has decent padding around most of the bass, including a neck support with Velcro strap to hold it down. The bag now is mainly a sleek black with blue zips for the accessory pouches. Even though it's padded well, the case remains fairly flat, so you can easily stack other basses or amps next to it. I've had some where the pockets stick out making it hard to put things next to it in the car. It should be an easier piece to deal with when playing Car Tetris, ha ha.

Overall, a good product that I would definitely recommend. Got mine for £35, don't know what that will be in any other country but U.K. But it's worth a look. Just put RokSak Thunderbird Case into google, and your should find it somewhere.

Appreciate the detailed reply, being specifically tailored for a 'bird is great but I am looking for a less specific shape, just something that would be able to accommodate the dimensions of a 'bird as well as other bass body shapes...have you tried other bass body styles in that case, a P a J a Ric...anything but a 'bird?

IIRC the Roadrunner bass gig bag at Guitar Center will fit a TBird. I'll check in about 15 minutes when I get home.

Thanks @GBassNorth
Ok, just got home and grabbed my 35" scale Spector Bird and my 34" scale Gibson TBird. The longer scale Spector fits with room to spare. Unfortunately, the Gibson does not fit.

Blame the goofy headstock (which sticks about an inch out of the bag). I suspect you could force the fit but you'd end up having little to no real padded protection for the headstock and the Nylon zipper would be rubbing hard against the end of the headstock. For me that's a NoGo on the Roadrunner/Gibby combo.
