270 posts later, I add this: that moment ended her singing career. It could have gone a long way to gaining new fans, but that one moment was the end. Kind of amazing, really.
Can I ask for more specifics regarding your "terrible engineering" remark? The RIC 4003SW has a pretty firm grip on first place with regards to which bass I'm gonna get with my Les Paul $$$. I certainly value your opinion on the matter...
But they have small skinny necks bro.
They are more of a crap shoot then other production run basses Fix, but i'll let the expert give you the real skinny.

Best to talk to an honest Rick aficionado aware of their history and engineering goofs and who keeps up with current product.
Tom Heslin of MT Cases in Chicago is someone I'd trust. I can't remember his TB name.
That doesn't quite match up with the one one I've messed around with locally. 1 11/16" nut width... thick & juicy all the way from nut to body... minimal taper... flat radius... satiny finish... it meets all my criteria. It's been the neck I've compared all others to since this little adventure began, and none have even come close to the feel of that one.

Unfortunately, I'm still a ways off from buying, so if anybody has a reason I should take it off my list, I'd like to hear it (factual stuff... not opinion stuff). You won't piss me off... you'll be helping me make an informed decision, which I will appreciate

Not much i can really offer on this Fix, but i did own three of them in the past, one of which was a lemon.
But the other two were great. It seems though, when i go into a shop and play one these days, i'm not very interested.

Modified Blackbird is done. Do I:
1. Blow off plans with friends to go to a motorcycle show tonight and drive like a maniac to pick it up before closing?
or
2. Be at the guitar shop, salivating, tomorrow morning when they unlock the doors?
Option 1 isn't good (a) for my social situation and also (b) because I need time to play the bass before I leave the store. If I get there at 5:55 PM there won't be time to address anything that's wrong. Option 2 stinks because, well, my bass is done and I don't like to delay gratification.

That hurts my eyes. Definitely not the work of a car designer...or designer of any kind IMO. There's so much visually wrong going on it's difficult to decide where to start the crit, it's just one incongruous element after another.
Don't drive like a maniac, and is the tech who did the work at the shop there when they open?
