Thunderbird Club

Can you imagine lifting that thing into an overhead bin. You'd have to clear the isle of passengers and bring in a mini crane.
Could always buy a ticket just for the head and put it in a stroller. "that's not an amp, it's my slightly overweight baby" :roflmao:

On second thought... a SECOND plane ticket from that area of Cali to NYC probably isn't very cost effective.

Sitting at my rats nest of a desk not doing a bit of work, dreaming of iron and glass..............

Following up on my trial with the $5 a pack GHS special edition red coated steels on the bird-
First , I find them way less flexible than the DR HI Beams I'm used to, which exaggerates the long straight linear qualities of the Thunderbird, and I'm not thrilled about. I think it may be a factor of hex core vs round core.
Second, the E has the tapered end meaning it gets thinner at the. All end so there is less material sitting on the bridge. Supposed to get the core closer to the bridge for better vibration blah blah blah - what happens is that string sits lower than the others enough to bring on fret buZZ. And with the stock bridge you can't adjust that on an individual string. Plus, I found the tone to be quite messy on the E with lots of overtones and an undefined root. Didn't like it.

So, if you're playing a stock 3-point bridge, be wary of GHS tapered end strings.
It sux that they're not to your liking... but I bet you could turn around & sell those extra sets on eBay, and turn that experiment into a profitable venture;)

Bob: "Jeez Tom! You've been taking that flight for 20 years, & I have never seen you so late! What happened?"

Tom: "Ah... some jackass brought an Ampeg on the plane & we had to stop for fuel six times!"
