Looking from the headstock and down the neck it's "Lefty-Loosey" and "Righty-Tighty"...

Left = Forward bow
Right = Backwards bow

Ok, it's Grand Final day in the NRL (not Aussie Rules that was yesterday) and just tootling around. So with that precursor I have another detail question of little import, but that bugs me.

Is the construction of the neck different between the Pro-IV and the Classic Pro ? Or is it just the finish that changes the look when counting the layers?

Ok it is different, 7 walnut & maple alternating ply on the Pro IV and 7 ply mahogany & walnut on the Classic Pro (& Vintage Pro).

So why? It seems illogical to me - assuming they are / were built in the same factory. Why wouldn't they standardise on one or the other?

I know that's an unanswerable question. But it does my head in, why build in an inefficiency into your factory?

Maybe it's just not that inefficient? Wood laminating sequence, might not be a big deal really. But, I do not know the place. *Shrug*

It bugged me enough to go figure it out. The 4 necked guitar guy was Michael Angelo:rolleyes:

Don’t take the info on Epiphone website for granted - it’s full of errors...

The active Pro-IV and Pro-V has 7-ply (laminated) necks, but only 5 of the laminates run through the entire neck - the remaining two laminates are part of the raised centerblock, but not the neck.

The Classic Pro-IV has a 9-ply (laminated) neck like the Gibson, with all 9-ply’s running through the neck.

The laminates on the Pro are very different from the Classic Pro: The Pro has fairly thick/wide laminates, whereas the Classic Pro have some very thin/narrow laminates.

This is one of my Classic Pro’s, where you can easily see all 9-ply’s:
