I don't think I'd use wooden blocks. I'd cut up a brand new kitchen sponge so that it's compressible and you'd really be able to really dial in the height.

Vintage or authentic Thunderbird pups are a very thin twin coil design that doesn't really need the deep rout of the contemporary version. When I retro fitted my basses with Mike Lull's I went to the local nice wood place and got some Mahogany stock in 1/8" and 1/4" thickness, I shaped and glued them as spacers in both routs, thus I could still use the stock screws. I also slipped some dense foam underneath and used some springs around the screws to help create additional tension.

Done, but could probably use a second black spacer underneath the the bridge pup ring. Mind you, the bass was perfectly good to begin with, it's just my own chrome insanity that made me start with an $1800.00 bass, take all the hardware odd and replace it..........

I think I could hear it more clearly on "I Ran". As well as I could hear with a 1y/o and 3y/o screening next to me... Sounds good to me. I <3 that deep thumpiness
After years of no pedals at all for me, I have finally weakened because we are now 3 piece (and a singer) and I feel the need for some more fullness. I am compiling a small pedal board- just using a Pedaltrain Mini- big enough for my needs.
I have an EHX Big Muff Bass Deluxe Pi and a MXR M87 Compresor and I will also mount the footswitch for the GK Fusion 550 that I gig with. I went with the Muff because I can blend the wet and dry signals and use just a little of the wet signal and maintain the "integrity" of the dry signal and it has a good noise gate (that works) as well as a DI and high and low pass filters (which I love)- quite a a pedal actually!
I will also add a bass chorus and that will be about it I think.
What do you guys recommend as a chorus?- I play similar stuff to our Queen.

Chorus pedals i've had a few and my fav was an old DOD bass stereo chorus, good sound and cheap as well, the boss cen3 was a bit meh, although the japanese black lable one is pretty good and can be found fairly cheap. The mxr bass chorus looks and sounds pretty sweet though (imo).
There is also a volume mod you can do on the bass big muff to allow you to better control the amount of clean signal in the dry mode. Hope that helps

Thanks. Ha, yes a slippery slide, indeed. I have been thinking about the MXR Chorus- pretty happy with their compressor. The EHX Deluxe Bass Big Muff Pi, which is the one I have, has a Blend control standard (as well as the high and Low Pass filters) and a DI.
I've been using the Tech 21 Red Ripper for distortion. Thinking about adding their Bass Chorus, as I like the quality of these pedals.

I forgot to remove a tuner to measure the through hole and I really want to order some Ultralites this morning but I'm 20 miles away from my basses. 
Anyone know if I should be ordering the 3/8" or the 1/2"? I'll also be ordering (1) Bass Xtender with a Dbl. Stop Lever and a Supertone as well.
Any suggestion on where I'll be able to buy all these upgrades from one place and get a good price? I noticed that Hipshot is not the best price online but I haven't found the Dbl. Stop Lever option anywhere else.
