Thunderbird Club

An eight string T-bird would be pretty badass. Just saying.

Yes it would be:

That is why I want an off switch. I want to be able to leave my bass in the stand plugged into the amp. I'm kind of lazy that way.
Well, there's always this option...

I've used it on stage and it works perfectly, no pops or clicks when turning off and on. Good news is it makes a great sound kill switch. Bad news is, it will still drain an active preamp battery if you leave it plugged in to the bass output jack.

But it's from Waters' head... post-war Europe.
Yeah. I just mean the vocals between the album and the movie.

Well according to Enzo you only paid for the engine in his road cars, so don’t complain if the body rusts away.
But oh that exhaust. It’s like a symphony.

I'm struggling with push pull pots in my Goth right now. The TBird control cavities are quite a bit more shallow than normal basses. Consequently I've had to use a forsner bit to hog out the spots where the stacked push/pull pots will go and I've also had to modify the solder lugs on the bottom of the pot to just barely clear the control cover plate, not ideal. Now I see why the 2015 bird used toggles vs the push pull pots used in the EB bass. Not sure what your cap value is right now but if it's way too bright you might want to try a .1 uF first. And then go up or down from there as needed.
Damn dude! Some touchy work there! There's not a whole lotta stock there for that ol' Forstner bit to work with! I don't know how much yer gonna hafta remove, but I'll encourage you to use oversized and thicker washers around your pot shafts when ya go t'puttin' 'er back together;)

What do you all think?

Uke makes me think he needs to wear a grass skirt and coconut bra as initiation rite. :D
WOW!!! It finally happened! the grass skirt/coconut bra thing, is finally... well... kinda appropriate (whooda thunk it:wideyed:)

Almost makes me feel like we oughta go with somethin' else. Maybe brush the dust off of a classic like "Bovine Parade Float", or "Nude Beach Body Wax".:chicken:

Ya know... I've had this idea I've been savin'... "Orange Juice/Toothpaste Jello Shots"! Wuddya think?;)

Yeah, I hear ya.
Actually I soaked the newly hogged out space in wood glue to give it a bit more strength. The plan right now is to use standard washers. The pickguard plan right now is a full lower wing guard in hand tooled leather or carbon fiber weave so if need be I can always just mount the pots to the guard. The other option would have been to surface mount the control plate cover vs the current flush mount design, which I might still do anyway.

Hopefully I'll get some time this weekend to wire up the different control test rigs (one rig at 250k vol pots and 250k tone pot and one rig at 500k vol pots and 250k tone pot) to see which sounds best then I'll do the actual install and will have a good feel for how well the pots fit in the cavity. I won't design or order the pickguard until I've nailed the control layout, there's still a chance I might go active if I'm not completely satisfied with the passive design. It's all still very much a work in progress.

I think we may have scared him off. Although I can think of many more variations for the initiation based off your post here Fix, and I so dare not say what they are.

Hey, Jeff. Any idea when the bass will be coming back to you for its reveal?

Not till the 25th Larry. My tech is pretty backed up with refrets and the likes. But it's the only place I trust here in NYC. Been going to them since the late '70's. Going a little crazy without her and it's not even been a day.

Ouch! That's a ways away. Hopefully he can get to it sooner than that and not later. At least you have it at a place you can trust.

I'm sure it'll be worth the wait. :)

I'm cool with the wait. I doubt he'll get it to me sooner. Lot of people ahead of me with major work to be done. He was impressed with your pick-guard by the way.
