I managed to source some really cool black toggles that worked great for the FrankenGoth! At Amazon of all places, link for those interested...

They allow for neck coil/series Humbucker/bridge coil on each pickup. Works very nicely but two toggles, each with three positions seems a bit busy in actual use. The down side - I found that there wasn't a huge difference between the neck coil and the bridge coil setting on each pup, so probably not really worth it to go down this path on the final cut.

I have also sourced a single switch (DPDT on/on) in black that I think will offer 99% of the same tonal output of the dual toggles but instead of 2 toggles with three positions each it will be one toggle with two positions. Much more simple and straight forward. It will deliver the two outside coils (neck pup neck coil and bridge pup bridge coil humbucked in series) in one position and both full humbuckers each in series in the other position. Since I'll have a volume volume set up I can still dial in just one coil or one Humbucker if I want. I haven't wired this one in yet but I suspect it will work just fine.

So now that I've just about reached passive perfection I need to start focusing on active options. As previously noted I have a Spector Tonepump preamp laying around and I also have a couple of Bart preamps and a John East preamp. Turns out the Spector preamp might be dead. I wired it up yesterday but can't get it to work, part of the problem is the wire colors coming out of the epoxy block preamp don't match the wire colors on any Spector wiring diagrams I can find. I was told to just ignore the colors and go by position (makes for a confusing mess in the control cavity! Not to my liking). I've never been fond of Bart preamps and I suspect the East preamp will require desoldering pots from the circuit boards to fit in the control cavity. So now I'm looking at active preamp purchase options.

Has anyone here put an Aguilar OPB-2 in a TBird? I know they are small but so is the TBird control cavity. I can't seem to find any dimension data on the OPB preamps. Any help on that front would be welcome.

I'm so happy to be here to be part of this genius group on TB. I'm eyeing this beauty for 2 years, I've alwayas had soft spot for Thunderbird, but this...this is something special. So dark, so raw, so fat, so chunky, so growly... bought it 2 days ago and again fell in love with bass.

The rubber appears to be durable and you get like 10 switches with rubbers for about 8 bucks. So even if one of the rubbers wears out or fails (hate it when that happens) you can just screw on one of the spare ones, and before anyone asks, no they're not ribbed or lubricated.
