Have you considered the new Epi Vintage Pro? Sorry, PRO. Sounds like it would be exactly what you're looking for.

I certainly have considered it! My hope with the Embassy was for a light, easy to schlep bass to take to sessions that could get me in the ballpark. I usually only take 2-4 basses to sessions. Take more and you'll spend half the session letting the producer sample everything you got. At some point, you gotta hit record and get on with it

Epi's are still considered a 'cheap' bass by a lot of folks but they keep getting better. One of my favorite things I've ever recorded was on a Jack Casidy with tape wounds. Was supposed to be a scratch track I'd replace later with upright

I don't currently even own a Bird, but love this group. Funny and not so precious about everything. Plus my aesthetic leans toward classic instruments. Seriously considering a Cataldo build at some point. In the 60's and 70's era, Gibson basses are my favorites. First bass was a G3, then a Ripper and a Grabber. Still waiting for the right Bird I can actually afford. Hoping that new Embassy Pro I just ordered will get me into that ballpark sonically

Afford/not afford. That's not the real question. When a 'Bird chooses you, that's when you are a 'Bird person. You will know. Then all kinds of other things happen, like understanding that salami is only for sandwiches and grass skirts are appropriate attire for all occasions. Other than that, we don't have too many constants to worry about.

Oh, one other thing. If you have a 'Bird or two, pay attention. They tend to multiply. Next thing you know, you have a flock that might or might not include a Fenderbird.

Fun to mess around with, but I found it to be too over-the-top for my tastes, hard to get any subtlety out of it. Maybe I didn't mess with it long enough, should dig it up again.

So take an Embassy and a Bird... Or as an experiment, (temporarily) replace the Epi TRC with a Gibson logo for the opposite of blind testing.

I’m really quite partial to the 4003 Sw. I prefer the dots inlays to the Tupperware triangles, and on that walnut finish, I prefer it without binding. If I could save a buncha cash, I’d take either one... but at the same price, I’d go for the SW. thanks again, for thinking of me though

I love the effect but don’t really get to use it much as my 2 band mates pee themselves laughing whenever I turn it on. I want to experiment with a few different effects now, and this does take up a lot of space on the board!

I had this issue with bandmates too. The guitarist had every effect in the world and loved to show them off and tweak and noodle during practices. But you'd think it was the end of the world if I tried the same myself. One of the reasons I'm not playing with anyone these days...

OK, caught up on the evening/overnight activity...

It was a very long show 3.5 hours with no breaks. They played everything you would want to hear as well as some interesting covers - Wichita Lineman? OK, fun intro to a song, but what song? Oh wait, they're playing the whole song.

Really Axl? The Seeker, nice! Speak Softly Love (from The Godfather) cool Slash! Wish You Were Here- seems like everyone has started doing a Pink Floyd cover (or at least part of one). Blackhole Sun - I really did not see that one coming!​

GnR is clearly Axl's band. The vocals were really loud compared to all else and all the instruments were severely scooped to clear the frequencies for Axl's voice. It is a big band - 2 guitars and 2 keyboards (when did 80s hair-metal require 2 keyboard players?). Not much interaction between anyone onstage - almost like no one really likes Axl, they just get along well enough to go out earning with him.

All said - it is a must see to see Duff and Slash playing the music they made their names on. And I have to see Slash before he dies from cardiomyopathy.

If you get a custom TRC as well as pickguard, like mine, everyone seems to assume that it's a Gibson.

The pickup covers are aged, but naturally. I got the thunderbuckers used from another forum member.

Would agree, met them after a club show on The Warning tour and both Chris and Geoff where great dudes, chatted it up with Geoff for a good while, all in all a great experience. Losing Chris Degarmo was a loss that haunts the band to this day. Sadly, in his later years, Geoff became a bit of a pariah and pretty much "pirated" the Queensryche ship until the remaining members had to send him on his not so merry way. They have found new life with a singer (Todd LaTorre) who can do justice to the old catalog and yet add his own "character" to the new material. And so the Ryche lives on.

Am I the on the other side of the fence when I say that Rage For Order is amazing?, It seems anytime I run into Queensryche conversations the R F O album is never included. Just curious on the general consensus for that one.
