I don't currently even own a Bird, but love this group. Funny and not so precious about everything. Plus my aesthetic leans toward classic instruments. Seriously considering a Cataldo build at some point. In the 60's and 70's era, Gibson basses are my favorites. First bass was a G3, then a Ripper and a Grabber. Still waiting for the right Bird I can actually afford. Hoping that new Embassy Pro I just ordered will get me into that ballpark sonically

I’m really quit partial to the 4003 Sw. I prefer the dots inlays to the Tupperware triangles, and on that walnut finish, I prefer it without binding. If I could save a buncha cash, I’d take either one... but at the same price, I’d go for the SW. thanks again, for thinking of me though

I wish Warmoth did neck through stuff. If they did, I'd just get a T-bird body and neck and rout it myself for Rickenbacker pickups. Or maybe one thunderbucker in the Ric bridge position, and a mini-bucker in the neck.

Afford/not afford. That's not the real question. When a 'Bird chooses you, that's when you are a 'Bird person. You will know. Then all kinds of other things happen, like understanding that salami is only for sandwiches and grass skirts are appropriate attire for all occasions. Other than that, we don't have too many constants to worry about.

Oh, one other thing. If you have a 'Bird or two, pay attention. They tend to multiply. Next thing you know, you have a flock that might or might not include a Fenderbird.

After labour day, aren't we off summer attire and onto winter? In which case, I think you need a cummerbund with the grass skirt and the frilly coconut bra. Leather hood always an option though.

My EB3 is an Epiphone and it is a neck through witch caught me way off guard because I thought the big brand name only offered that. Did Epiphone offer a neck through Thunderbird?, you might put forth your plans with one if it does.

Carvin/ Keisel sells through necks, just attach wings.

Am I the on the other side of the fence when I say that Rage For Order is amazing?, It seems anytime I run into Queensryche conversations the R F O album is never included. Just curious on the general consensus for that one.

Have you tried the FB? She might check that more often.

The pickup covers are aged, but naturally. I got the thunderbuckers used from another forum member.

I’m not on Facebook. But it’s fine. I’m not chasing someone just to give them my money.

Problem is that what I want to do would require routing new pickup cavities and filling the existing ones, meaning it would have to be an opaque color (and then finished over) to cover over the ugly scarring.

Probably just a standard Gibson style mini humbucker like the one that goes in the bridge position of the EB-3. Likely a Thunderbucker 66S or Rickenbacker high gain bridge pickup for the bridge position.

Set neck is like an acoustic guitar.

Most Gibson guitars and ones of similar style are set neck.

The neck is fastened to the body with glue. Sort of a middle ground between bolt-on and neck through.

Typically on the inside it's a bit more complex of a join than it appears from the outside.

There are various styles of joins used, depending on the manufacturer/builder.
