I used to do that from time to time, but no longer need too. I forget who else does it.

I find with my Bird that a long strap helps a bit with the forward tilt (resting more against my pelvis than my belly). The other thing that helps a bit with forward tilt is to hold the neck at a more upright angle, nearly the 1:00 position, which is also more comfortable on my fretting hand anyway.
Just find a happy place..............................
I never have a big problem with my birds diving with my current strap. Even when I have it riding high, centreline near the top of my belly. My '62 Precision dives a helluva lot more, using the same strap.
Don't forget to check the hardware, is all the chrome intact with no crud or rust buildup on the screws.
Also, does it get wiped down after each use or is it neglected and allowed to get dirty or fall into disrepair.
That would be getting off the Internet and going outside.

).Just make sure that you have a lettuce on hand before you drive the nails home. You can hardly be accused of cruelty as long as you can demonstrate that you intended to feed them.
Agree. I use a regular old 2 or 3 inch smooth leather strap (with no grippy suede or neoprene) I like to be able to move my bass around and smooth leather does that perfectly for me. I hate grippy straps that pull my shirt around every time I move the bass. Likewise, I hate thin Nylon guitar straps that won't even hold a guitar in place much less a bass.
Using the same strap, my Gibby Bird stays put wherever I position it, not the case with my '68 P Bass or my American Deluxe Jazz bass. They don't race to the floor but they like to hang at the 3:00 or 4:00 position. Now my Warwick Thumb BO5 is a totally different story, it's like a devining rod for stage floors. Hell, you'll trip over the headstock if you aren't careful, but OMG is the tone to die for, worth every second of inconvenience.
You are correct, that is what the literature says. When they first came out I read in more than one place that they were Highbeams with a coating. I already used Highbeams then so it seemed like an obvious choice to try them out. Could have been misunderstandings from the start (maybe even on my part??)?? Either way, great strings with or without a coating!!
I have a 4" wide leather strap, when i practice standing up, perfect. As Gbass stated, no grippy. and stays put wherever i sling the Bird.
