Haven't heard this in ages. I miss this time.

It's a close run thing between the Buzzcocks and Magazine for 'Manchester's finest' ... for me at least. Never really was into Joy Division/New Order that much and I'll leave it there as I don't want to stray into TB verboten subject matter ... apart from saying both band names were pretty dodgy.

That was a proper gig! Wall of Voodoo were mind blowing to me and I think their first EP and full length album still hold up. Not so much anything after that.

I love the idea of Joy Division/New Order more than actually listening to them, but New Order certainly had some strong moments

Maybe back in the day. After Sandy hit, wiped the whole place out for the most part. But for quite sometime now, it's either the nice fancy side, west of the bridge, or the crappy slummy parts, east of the bridge.

I saw Wall of Voodoo in 86 or 87 post Stan Ridgway. They were fair to middling on the night.

I remember that day like it was yesterday. It's not political to remember exactly what you were doing when something like that happened. I was alive when Kennedy was assassinated, but, unlike a whole lot of people, I don't remember what I was doing. I was 3 years old at the time.

Oddly enough, I remember the 1968 Olympics on grainy black and white TV. I was just 8, and there's no way an 8 year old boy should notice figure skating on grainy black and white TV, but I completely fell in love with Peggy Flemming. She was on the cover of Life magazine a bit later, and that was it. Smitten! The love of my life! My wife thinks that's really funny. Phwew!

My first memory of a large scale happening was that day when Elvis died, I was about 6 or 7 but I knew at that very moment how big it was.

Synesthesia is actually very interesting. They can have some unusual abilities depending on the form. It can lead to an individual being particularly gifted in math, music and other areas. But, they can be odd to talk to when they tell you things like "that sounds rather green".

I don't think I'm a synesthete, but like any other human trait, it's analogue. We are all somewhere on the spectrum, and I'm probably closer than most because sounds really do have coloring. Colors don't have sounds, so I'm not wired in both directions.

Besides, talking to some of us can be odd whether it sounds green or not.

I love all that, but really love the JD/NO stuff. As fond as I am of JD, by far most of what I listen to from all of that is the really early New Order stuff.
