Thunderbird Club

That's the same model as I have (the YBA200/2 comes with KT88s). They had a potentially troublesome auto-bias function -- a previous owner removed it from mine.

Time to hit Bank of Mum and Dad for a loan.
:roflmao::roflmao:
I may be able to get away with getting basses for good deals, but amps, especially tube amps, are a very different story. Never mind getting them to help with the purchase!

Unless the amp says 'Marshall' on the front, in white script. That might... is a very different story. Hell my dad b!tches at me if I even mention an 810/412 Mesa cab, but he's been looking for a Marshall straight cab to go under my angle cab.... just so it looks proper! I hardly play guitars, but a bass cab is a bad idea?! :rollno:
I tried telling him that the ACC 370 should have two 301 cabs, but he buying into that.

One for sale locally for $600 CAD ($460 US)
If I didn't just pay for school I'd pick it up, see how it compares to my Mesa

Mine was $AUD850 ($CAD825) for a 12yr old amp with an unknown number of former owners, but them's the prices you pay.

How it would go vs the Mesa? There's not a lot of clean headroom -- it was designed to be dirty.

Don't forget the Mesa can drop down to 125W and 250W... plus the boost push/pull
The Mesa can get dirty very easily

Yeah, the fire broke out NYE 1985, so the pic of the band standing amidst the ashes would've been NYD 1986.

Released 1983

Released 1979

I remember when 1986 was the future...

Me too. And...

No you don't.
You’re right, 60’s or 70’s woulda been better.
Music aside, drag racing was a lot more popular, and cheaper. Muscle cars in general were a lot more popular, and cheaper.

Now you gone and dunt it, got me talking about cars. @GBassNorth is gonna chime in, maybe even @mrb327 , and it’s gonna be a full blown 3 page conversation about cars again.

I'll give you that. I can still remember seeing DGA's gig posters all over Granville street.

Also, in the mid-80s the mid-70s muscle cars were cheap relatively and somewhat plentiful. Friend had a Roadrunner, brother's friend had a Roadrunner, another had a street-racin' '70 Trans-Am; another of my friend's had that '73 Mach 1 Mustang... An older friend had a Charger, my aunt had a Duster...

A '66 'Cuda... that would make a great birdcage for a matching '66 Thunderbird (ie Gibson, not Ford)... Hemi Under Glass...

With a Traynor Big Ben and Super Custom Special, too.

Wistful Wishful Wonderings

It was that or cry, which we probably got out of the way the night before! ;) In truth, I actually made out at the end of the day. I bought the LabSeries L4 used from a friend for $350, insured it for $1200.00. Insurance paid in full and for $300 out of pocket I had a brand new Marshall 3540 400w bass stack. Downside being our guitarist called it a day after the fire and it took us until April to replace him and back out steady gigging.
Drag about the guitar player... but otherwise... well played my friend!
