I played this guy at the store and went home to get my Jazz, and Precision. Best of playing with your new guys there.

Congrats! I think that's the first TalkBass, 2015 Gibson Thunderbird! Gorgeous!
Nice Bird!I tried this Thunderbird, and there was no reason to not acquire it. I love it, it plays so great. The Jazz, and Precision stayed at the store, and the Thunderbird came home we me.

Nice Bird!
Are those p'ups stock? Or aftermarket?
I was on bestbassgear.com looking at some Seymour Dunkin Phase II's then switched to TB to see your Bird. I had to stop and ask. LolThey're the stock pups on the 2015's. They work well with the mini-toggle switches that control the pups sounds. Nice the way Gibson did it, and keeping it a passive system onboard.
Oh and mine is in his forties/ fifties so I can relate to him pretty well
The most challenging thing is he gives me an Elvis song to learn and I just am not (read that with an underline) an Elvis guy. I know he is blues and all but man this is killing me.
Happy Mardi Gras everyone! Here's my TBird inspired 8 string dressed in purple and gold for the occasion.

JELLIS, are you in the club, or shall I add you? The list is long and a couple pages back, happy to bring it forward and add you - Beautiful Nikki Sixx Mk.II!
My experience with a pro set up is that if it's done right it should last for a long time - even with seasonal changes, you have a good basis to work from. I can only think of one time that a bass of mine really needed adjustment - The band was on the road and my White '89 was in the hotel room, while we were out the maid came in to clean and in the process had opened the window and balcony door letting in a great deal of cold air..... The neck went flat and every string buzzed. That was 8 years ago, it went to Mike Lull and has been stable ever since.
I've been fighting the urge to go grab that one. It's not far from where I live at all so it has been quite tempting to buy it.
I see no reason for you not to get it... It would fit right in between your Seafoam Green and White Epi NR's...![]()

Play every kind of music you can, whether it interests you or not. It will make you a better bass player, and a better musician.
I grew up a rocker. Played every kind of rock you can imagine, classic rock (before it was classic), heavy metal, punk, grunge/alternative. In the late '90s I found myself temporarily out of a band and let a guy talk me into joining his country band (I hated country). I learned so much from that band. It was a GREAT experience. Modern country has a lot of different feels in it that I never encountered playing rock, including things like waltz and cha cha. I currently play in a old school soul band. Soul is bass players music, the songs revolve around the bass. I have learned a ton more. I have also played blues, bluegrass, jazz, funk, disco, latin, and probably a few other styles I have forgotten about. And yes, Elvis. I can feel comfortable in pretty much any situation now (and I get called for sub gigs fairly often).
I still play rock (my hard rock band just broke up last month), but I love playing soul, and I am a LOT better today for having played so many different styles.
Just my .02 cents, but it comes from experience.
In my experience, you are dead accurate. I know it's true and I think yesterday I made good improvement in that tune. I know as I move forward and join a gigable band people will ask to hear Elvis. Several weeks ago I decided it isn't a fight I should be taking in. Elvis is just to big. Thanks for you .02 Showdown.
I agree but I am running out of space for gear. I would like to get it because it's probably the best color Epi offered in this run of basses. Plus they play and sound great! You are trying to be a bad influence![]()
