I mean, I don’t find Paul Weller to be especially likeable, but I love the Jam

I often find I'm disappointed reading artist interviews/experssed opinions, especially when I like their work. It's often best, in my experience, to let those things exist without my participation, informative or not.

Yeah. Everyone seems to love Grohl. I’m not a huge fan of his music, but I really like him as a person

Well I'm not going to make any friends on this'n. I find Dave Grohl to be insufferable. He has somehow crafted himself to be rock n roll's mouthpiece, as if it needed one. You can make a pretty safe bet that if there is some kind of rock event, it is more likely than not that you will be seeing that equine visage front and center.

I don't have a 1987 bass. If one that was a kind I wanted came up for sale anyway, I might get one.

Okay... since you say you're puzzled.

I hate Kiss. I'm not exaggerating. I despise that band. Part of it is musical... to me, they are essentially their generation's version of Nickelback. I find them musically and lyrically shallow. That doesn't mean that I think they're bad players... any of them could probably outplay me. A larger part of it is that Gene has used his platform as a famous person to say incredibly hurtful, awful things about people, especially after tragedies. **** that guy.

Sure, some of the bass lines are good. But there are plenty of bands with good bass lines to listen to without people who say such terrible things. I only have so much money and time in my life, so I sure as **** am not going to spend it on that ****head.

Indeed. I don't buy Burzum albums because I find Varg Vikernes a reprehensible, terrible person. I separate the art from the artist when the latter is good and dead, like Wagner.

I think it says a lot that his long list of collaborations includes people from literally every part of rock music. Not many people have worked with both a member of the Beatles and a member of Sunn O))). He's probably a really fun guy to play music with.

I think that Kat's point is (and I do not mean to put words into Kat's mouth, she is quite able to speak for herself) that the songs an artist writes inherently convey their opinion. I disagree; there are plenty of rock songs about the mundane. There are some that are political, but I would argue that it is far from the majority. I'm not going to do any tallies though.

Kat, KISS for me ended being a thing in 1977. Whatever Gene says or does now I could care less about. It doesn't diminish my fondness of the early catalog or line up. John Lennon was a very flawed man, doesn't mean that I can find something beautiful in his work.

Sincerely, Scott...if I said anything mean or dumb, I apologize. I’m not offended if someone doesn’t like what I like. But I wouldn’t want to be ‘that guy.’ It’s been a fun group of folks here, grading on the curve :)

There's a really nice 360/361 stack for sale one neighborhood over from me. Expensive, and I don't have a place to put it, but it is one of those non class D amps that are worth the weight.
