They were inescapable. The knuckle heads I grew up with loved that stuff. I was a different kind of knuckle head, but didn't have much choice about how many hours of Kiss I had to deal with. Same with endless Fleetwood Mac repetition. It makes a person turn to things like the World Saxophone Quartet really loud in self defense.

I remember one of the toughest free climbs that I had ever tried at the time, took almost 45 minutes to get up the rock face. I finally got to a ledge where I could sit and give my arms and legs a much needed rest. Looked down at Peppy and waived. That little show off sprung up the rock face, bouncing from one little hand sized ledge to the next and within 5 minutes was sitting at my side.

Goats are absolutely awesome. Glad I'm not the only one who knows this for sure. I didn't have a pet goat, but I was around them enough to love them.

Exactly. Unless a musician makes a point of having a distinct public personality of some kind, I wouldn't know what they are like. John Lennon was apparently a really difficult human. I still like his music. There are others who are probably the same way.

The reason I didn't like Kiss that much was the guys who were loud Kiss fans when I was a kid. At a distance now, I can listen to them without the association. They did some good stuff. My theory about music is that you don't really know what is good right away. It may take up to ten years of listening to it to let it settle in or fade away.

Similar thing turned me off from Pantera.

I’ve owned Grabbers, Rippers and G3’s. Love em all for what they are. Yet after all these years, the Bird is my favorite Gibson these days. Really didn’t see that coming :)

My thoughts about KISS are similar to Scotts, I saw them once back in '75 or so, they were a fun band, not like anybody else at the time. For a young person that found a love for music primarily from U.K. Glam bands like Slade, Mott, T-Rex and Bowie, KISS were the U.S. reply to all of that. As a show, it was a fun one - I didn't go because I wanted an intellectual evening, I was 16, KISS had a sexuality about them that drew me in, and Gene was not some FSC playing guy standing back by the drummer, he was out in front and was playing a Gibson - (I was already playing the bass by that point in my life, Gene just made me want to do it more!) Considering the person that I've become and my band I probably owe a bit of the inspiration to KISS, but that's also where it ends for me, while I'm not familiar with any of Gene's recent antics, I could not ever really look to him (or most any entertainer) for a valid opinion.

I'm a huge fan of these, just wish they didn't weigh a ton.
