Alas my friend... I am cursed. I can't hang with a slender necked inch & a half nut width. For me... an "adequate" neck, resembles half of a telephone pole. Thus far, I've found 3 possible options for me with regards to respectable quality Thunderbirds that I can play for more than about a minute & a half. The rare & elusive Hamer 'bird, a Greco 'bird, or a custom shop 'bird. Presently, I have a Korean Epi bolt-on model that has a comparatively substantial neck. That'll keep the fire burnin' until I can do sup'm better.:thumbsup:

Rainbow Music is among the last of a dying breed of stores. They're a small shop owned by Pete & John. Two straight shooters who'll look you square in the eye, doin' the best they can to compete with the internet and big-box stores & still keep the lights on. They won't hang crap on their walls, and they keep a nice clean shop. I'm happy to help you AND them out if I can (pics, hands-on opinions, or what have ya). They also have a pretty sweet deal on a GK 1001RB right now at $375.00:thumbsup:

Man, that’s a steal for such a great amp as a 1001rb! Awesome amps.
I can garauntee I won’t be making an offer on that ‘Bird! Just because I bought one, fell in love and got another, doesn’t mean I’m gonna start a ‘Bird museum by months end!

Though the Derek Forbes rabbit hole was pretty sweet, so I kinda owe you. Funny how specific 80’s records can sound, but the recording methods and approaches were immediately abandoned. Might be high time to incorporate some of the better aspects of that, because there were some amazing ideas and techniques that have been frozen in that era

To be fair... you're a wonderful and new addition to the flock. We have members here who love the only 'bird they have... and we have members who have separate storage facilities for their 'birds, because they ran out of room in their homes. I don't really know where you sit on the scale... but I know you're a pro, and have very good taste;)

(Plus... January just started:D)

Yeah... we've been movin' at a pretty good clip lately. Tryin' to get caught up around here, would be like tryin' to top off the tank in a '55 Roadmaster, with the engine idling.;)

It seems to me that Epiphone could do something similar with the NR Firebird shape. I know there is a Stratocoustic around.

PS. Guitar mate got distracted by a dark brown burst Artcore. The pic he showed me was beautiful so I can’t blame him. :)

Pretty much everyone has or wants an Epi Vp

Everyone has been awesome, friendly and supportive

A Kiss debate got a tad heated,but the better angels of our nature prevailed

No shortage of car analogies

Couple of us got additional Gibson ‘Birds

@kat888 still has the driest, snarkiest wit in the camp, but is always a good egg and is frankly, awesome. She also reminded us that Derek Forbes rules

@theFixer still is searching for a neck roughly the diameter of a monster truck tire

We all seem to like tube amps. Just not always the same ones

Carlo still builds crazy cool basses

I’m sure there’s more, but those are some highlights :)

I couldn't afford a vintage Marshall or HiWatt even if one did come up. Orange are likewise expensive -- new or used. Ashdown don't really do it for me, Bassman 135s can be a bit hit and miss and I have never seen a Sunn amp in Australia. I'm quite relieved I didn't drop a ton of money on a V4B. Not saying they are bad, more like it might not have been a good fit for me.

They sound like Ampeg. With the exception of an old fliptop, that's a deal breaker.
