Today is a step-cleaning day, ie stuff that I need a step to reach. There is no finer accompaniment than a couple of hours of premium Scottish Krautrock, namely Sons and Fascination/Sister Feelings Call and Empires and Dance. Derek Forbes is nipping at the heels of Jack Bruce for the laurels as Scotland's greatest bass player.
So now you have the 2014 and the 2002! Awesome!
...and when does your VP come in?
He's buying new and I'm prejudiced against sunburst![]()
Yessir... that's a handsome 'bird! I hope it works out for yaMate picked up the Talman acoustic thingy. I’ve been warned off sending him Guitar links for a while
Well, this is the one I’m having a nibble at...

But I don’t have an uncle named bob…
A couple months ago there was a mint vintage V4B with the matching 215 folded horn, locally for $800 or $900 CAD. I was a day late
Sunn’s Come up pretty cheap from time to time.
A simply brilliant summary my friend!Haha! True enough, the month is young
I love those odd Japanese bursts like that. So wrong they’re right! Neat looking bass!
Happy New Year!
I’ll give you the highlights.
Pretty much everyone has or wants an Epi Vp
Everyone has been awesome, friendly and supportive
A Kiss debate got a tad heated, but the better angels of our nature prevailed
No shortage of car analogies
Couple of us got additional Gibson ‘Birds
@kat888 still has the driest, snarkiest wit in the camp, but is always a good egg and is frankly, awesome. She also reminded us that Derek Forbes rules
@theFixer still is searching for a neck roughly the diameter of a monster truck tire
We all seem to like tube amps. Just not always the same ones
Carlo still builds crazy cool basses
I’m sure there’s more, but those are some highlights![]()
That being said, I saw a picture of someone's burst VP, and kinda liked it. Probably because of the glossiness. But for me, one sunburst bass is enough, so as long as I own my Jazz bass, I won't have a burst birdHAPPY BIRTHDAY, Mike!!!
Ha! I need to slow down on buying stuff. Also got a new amp recently, so really should slow down. I am considering another ‘Bird, but it’s a custom bass and probably won’t happen any time soon
Funny you say that. On the VP’s I prefer the look of the white or ebony ones, though I can’t find fault with the new burst, other than it’s a bit glossy looking for my tastes. Then again, if you look at my two ‘Birds it becomes obvious what I like
I’ve always thought the super pale, natural finish 76-77 models were the coolest looking apart from the early 60’s II’s.
I’d totally rock an old yellowed out white, or that pale shell pink I saw on one
HAPPY BIRTHDAY, Mike!!!

Twooooooooo covers. Not my call.Noooooo covers.
A Sunn may be on my horizon, but the horizon isn't a stone throw's away. You do now!
The Sunn will come up tomorrow
Bet you'll need more dollars 'cause tomorrow
There'll be Sunn

That is correct.I'm struggling to remember what Gibson called that finish, it may have been Natural Burst, regardless it's a bit uncommon, you may wish to keep it stock.
My first official birthday salutation! Thank you Sir!HAPPY BIRTHDAY, Mike!!!

So... what was the hold up duke?![]()
A Model T would be cool to get, same with a Coliseum, it depends if a good deal pops up at a good time. But a 1960's B15/B18 is higher up on my list....
Which model?
Sorry, got stuck in traffic on my way to the party!
Side note; Happy Birthday Mike @theFixer!!!!!!
No kidding?! Today?! Happy Birthday, Fix!
