OMG,,,, ITS A " BOMB CYCLONE" Puhlease!
It's the one across the way from us, a twin. They were originally dwellings for skilled laborers and their families from Scotland, to work in textiles here.Is that your house, Roger?![]()
I recently bought a Classic Pro in white to keep my Pro IV company and I have an observation regarding woods. The white one is significantly lighter than the sunburst Pro and far less resonant. Even my wife says they sound different. The Pro feels solid in my hands while the Classic feels, somehow cheaper. Let's face it, the wood used on painted stuff probably isn't of the same quality as what is used on more natural finishes.
I also had a pair of Precisions, one an AM STD in alder the other a VM PJ in basswood. Huge difference in resonance. YUUGE difference. Just my uneducated opinion.
Colour of matchbook must match the colour of the bass, I thought that was common knowledge

They were built of stone-rubble construction around 1790.
Pardon the edits...
I've got a neighbor who, once he dons the aviators and opens his mouth could be Axel's doppelgänger. I was stunned! He could front a tribute band all day long. Unfortunately he likes rap and hip hop. Even the lure of easy money couldn't convince him. Shoot! I'd just like to find a guy who can sing in that range, it would open up so much stuff. Johnson era AC/DC, ZEPPELIN, RATT. I'm not huge into hair metal but there's so many great tunes no one does at the local level because of a lack of decent vocalists. The screwed up part is that he's the same drummer in the Crue and GnR act. So have to deal with this no matter what. Will see him tomorrow and not even mentioning the Crue band with him. He needs to talk to the singer and tell him what he wants to do. I'm not going to be the middle man here
Bwahahahaha! Puhlease.......
Of course all these observations are unplugged so pickups are not a factor. Come on now, im not completely clueless despite what my wife says! LolThey should indeed sound different - Not only are they construction-wise slightly different, but more importantly one of them has passive Gibson pickups (Classic Pro IV), and the other has some pretty anemic active circuitry (Pro IV)...
In regards to resonance several things could factor in here: It could either be attributed to the density of the wood used, the bridges (floating 3-point bridge on the Classic Pro, and hi-mass bridge on the Pro) and/or the strings...
What kind of strings do you use, do they have silk endings, and are the silk endings sitting on the saddles?
My two Classic Pro's are nice and resonant, and there is nothing cheap feeling about them...![]()
Most importantly, you'd need to take quantitative measurements, more so that tone is highly subjective. Meaning you'd need to put each bass on some form of measuring device like an oscilloscope.
Speaking of mahogany...
This bad boy followed me home this monday:

Seems nice enough - Apart from some buckle rash on the back, it needs a bit of cleaning, new strings and a setup, but otherwise it looks and feels okay. Unfortunately wife didn't approve, and is still pissed off for buying it... Oh well.. :/
I love snow...in photos.
I had a Billion Ric copy made of pine and sounded pretty goodJust because pine is inexpensive is no reason to rule it out as a body wood, agreed.
I just found out that this drummer also gave an ultimatum for his buddy to be the second guitarist for the GnR act. We have two other guys wanting to audition that are very good and want to give them a shot. This buddy of his is making a large amount of demands and now I know why.I've got a neighbor who, once he dons the aviators and opens his mouth could be Axel's doppelgänger. I was stunned! Why are there so many people (because it isn't just musicians) who failed kindergarten? Specifically works and plays well with others...

SSSOOOO glad I asked!!! You did NOT disappoint!!!
