1963 Dodge Polara Hardtop! Very nice!! Cool story too!!
I'm currently on the search for a project 63-65 Polara but a 2 door post.

This is a picture of the guy that lived beside my grandma, she still lives there, I think it was the day he got his factory 1968 Super Stock Hemi Barracuda. This guy bought a new Mopar every year, usually a Hemi.

My dad bought his first car from this guy, it was a 1966 Plymouth Satellite, original 426 Hemi 4 speed car... but he got it with a 440 auto. I'm building a factory 426 4 speed right now, and gonna paint it the same colour as my dad's was.
Actually we have some jack stands that that guy gave my dad.

Where are you in South FL? I'm in Southern Palm Beach County. (I always say it like that b/c Boca Raton has such an obnoxious connotation to those in the know! But I can't leave Boca b/c my daughter has high-functioning Autism and is in fantastic programs here!)

Curious how many folks here use effects? I’ve been wanting to try some textural stuff. Just have a couple dirt boxes at the moment, but I’m looking into modulation, delay/verb, possibly looping. Anyone have pedals they love with their ‘Birds?

I'm curious about this. I have a Bass Soul Food & a Bass Big Muff but I can only get my ultimate tone on one of my basses. I like it low with just a hint of dirt. Oddly enough, I can get that with my TMB-100 but not with my SRX2EX1 or Tbirds.. it's always too much or too little with them. I mean, they all sound great but dialing in that exact tone is hard to match on all 4 of my babies. Maybe it's a P-J vs 'buckers thing?

Haven't lived in S. Fla since I was 18 and went off to UF. Moved back here about 10 years ago after California, Louisiana, North Carolina and China. It's inexpensive and low key in the small town I'm in. Gainesville, twenty miles away, has some culture and a top notch medical industrial complex. Plus a few friends who either never left after college or moved back.

I still have a brother and sister in Broward and my brother in law works in Boca. There are definitely other places I'd prefer to live but I get it about your daughter. Gotta have priorities!

I think they're 15's on that car. But either way, that is a factory race car. Fiberglass front end, minimal interior, the windows go up and down by sliding a piece of leather, the side mirrors slide out too. IIRC they don't even have VIN's, making it not street legal.

I suspect you're right about the P/J vs humbucker impact with pedals. I don't use pedals much with my basses but on my guitars, single coil vs humbuckers makes a huge difference.

There's only one solution (n+1) - what you really need is another TBird, specifically the 2015 Gibson Bird that has a split coil feature on its pickups. In single coil mode it nails the Precision tone and can be dialed in to fits of Jazz frenzy as well as covering the TBird range in Humbucker mode.

I loved the tone of the one i had, i just couldn't deal with the weight anymore. If it was a Pre-EBMM, i would have kept it for sure.

Aguilar's demo is pretty convincing, close to my '77 tonewise IMO. There's a snippet of pIck playing around 6:00:

I had a Nordy MM.4 in my Ray. I've heard nothing but great things about the Aguilar pup and pre.

Ok... I just spotted the heaviest 4 string bass I've ever seen. It's a 1981 G&L L2000 fretless, claiming to weigh 11 pounds and 7 ounces! Can anybody top that? (I'm just curious)

I had a Peavey T-40 that weighed around 8,000 lbs. ok, it weighed 14 lbs, but after an hour of playing, what’s the difference?

Mostly 70's & 80's rock.
I ALMOST bought the Alpha-Omega recently. I've seen some amazing reviews & vids on it. Maybe... just maybe... I should look at it again. I mean, there's room on my board for it! (And so begins the rationalizations for buying more gear!)

Dang... I forgot exactly how much the A-O costs. It was more than I remember. Did you hear me scream??? Well, it wasn't really a scream... more like a shocked painful cry of despair. But, that's okay. I have a bass in the shop waiting for a part on backorder and then I'm selling it later this month. That would fund this. Ya know, because GAS can be painful too!
