Thunderbird Club

Check Brad Lowe out, I'm trying to remember his username here....... Beetl maybe?
Anywho, our member SilkkSmoove used one of his Thunderbird bodies for a build that he posted here around October 2017 or so, very nice body!
That's me!
@BeeTL -juice!

Why do you say that? I’m fascinated by how different people, hands, whatever, respond to string tension. I ran either 50-110 or 50-115 for years. Now, I’ve backed it down a bit on some basses, but smaller than 45-105 kinda freaks me out. Maybe that’s skewed by the fact that I play a lot of upright. I’m not dissing lighter strings. Jealous, in fact :)
I really like the 45-105 RS66. I like high tension. I also play down by the bridge.

Vince, what's the tension like on those?, i see they make a light gauge set 40-58-80-102. Anything much heavier than that just doesn't feel right to me.
Hah.

That’s me. Laugh it up, I love it...and the best part is. That was a year after I’d really got back into cycling...here’s a before and after

So in just one year of having the time of my life I managed to shed 60lbs. Best decision I ever made. Helps stave off depression, totally joyful experience and healthy. And sure, the clothes look stupid. There’s been several 20 something hipsters that show up in jeans telling us the clothes are dumb and unnecessary. About 20 miles into a 50-60 mile ride their opinions tend to change :)

If you can find anything in this world that brings you that much joy, I suggest you embrace it!
HAH!!! What's that thing between yer lip & yer chin... a souvenir from a Michael McDonald concert??? :woot::roflmao::roflmao::roflmao::roflmao::roflmao::roflmao:

(that was the funny part... right?):)

Duke, fair play to you mate. I’m sorry if I offended you, that was definitely not my intention. I never did the Lycra thing when I was riding, but that was mainly because I would have looked like a condom full of gravy!
My original post was just meant to be a bit of a light hearted jab at the many MAMILs who go for the full race team kit and take themselves too seriously.
Like you say, if you find something you love, embrace it. That’s kind of why we’re all here isn’t it?

The way some motorists are toward cyclists, you might catch me dead in Lycra one day! I used to say the same thing, but the more I got into the sport and trying to improve at it, the more I just got over the dumb clothes :)
My brother commuted in central London on a bicycle for years, and at least three times he was hit by cars and thrown into the road, only to have the drivers either drive off or get out and start on him for daring to touch their precious vehicle!

Tough crowd today :)

All good, brother! The goofy clothes are not lost on me one bit. It’s something that’s more practical to the sport and it’s really tough to find cycling clothes that don’t look idiotic. Since I’m not out there looking for a date, I just don’t sweat it anymore :)

It kinda comes with it. I’ve never been hit...some real close calls though. Lost a couple friends and visited a couple in the hospital. Sucks, so I just try to be extra careful and extra courteous

Don't like cars but not teally a big bicycle fan either as I'm sick of nearly being killed, or screamed at by lunatics riding on the footpath or running red lights mowing down pedestrians.

Also don't understand why a bell is not compulsory,

Did it! And got both my questions answered!
Lifted a bit of the new serial number sticker and the original number was underneath with just the LAST few digits scraped off (or whatever the technical term is for what they do.) So I could see from the original number that my VS is actually a 2016. The 2017 on the sticker must have been when it was reassigned.

Mine has the sticker with the new serial number and then a stamped imprint of "2nd"... but you have to hold it just the right way in the light to be able to read it, otherwise it simply looks like a small problem with the finish in that spot. When I unboxed and was searching for some horrible deformity that made it a Factory 2nd, I noticed that area and stared at it from several angles before I could finally make out what was there. Then I saw the barely visible scuffs on the edge and back of the lower horn and thought... Are you kidding me, that's nothing! They actually looked worse in the ad pics. I got lucky with this one!

Curious how many folks here use effects? I’ve been wanting to try some textural stuff. Just have a couple dirt boxes at the moment, but I’m looking into modulation, delay/verb, possibly looping. Anyone have pedals they love with their ‘Birds?

I rode a bicycle for many years until distances got too long for the available time. I had a number of close calls, too. For what its worth, my bike was a Bianchi that was probably made of solid steel. It was spectacularly heavy by modern standards, but I rode it for 15 years or so.

Take a few days away on business and end up spending all your time trying to catch up.

The correct answer is "One more. I just need one more Thunderbird"

Wife apparently has the right answer to that question: "No more Thunderbirds!".... Or any other basses for that matter... :roflmao::roflmao::roflmao:
