Won't catch me dead in lycra.

The way some motorists are toward cyclists, you might catch me dead in Lycra one day! I used to say the same thing, but the more I got into the sport and trying to improve at it, the more I just got over the dumb clothes :)

Yeah, i know. Motorists and cyclists don't go to well together in this city. All that aside, you're lookin pretty trim from the exercise.

Same with playoff season in high school football.
Rugby players aren't that smart. I played on a frozen field in shorts more than once. Enthusiasm for making any kind of diving tackle goes down significantly when the ground is completely frozen. Once you are going, the cold isn't so much of an issue unless you stand still for a bit. The rock hard ground that's got frozen bumps and spikes sure is unpleasant.

Shimano on an Italian bike is kinda sacrilege! It’s a great bike though. Shimano make the best components, IMO, but they’re a terrible company in many ways. Knowing what I know now, if I ever put together a custom bike, the components will be SRAM. I’ll still slightly prefer Shimano, but SRAM is more the kind of company I can get behind, ethically. What kind of Bianchi do you have, Carlo? @JIO is an lifelong cyclist too :)
An '06 San Mateo. Aluminum/carbon hybrid. Need to get back on it now that I no longer have a prostate.:laugh:

Many things have changed since I was actively (road) racing and using elite gear. Mostly everything has gotten more expensive. I was a top-of-the-line Campy guy from the start (over 25 years of racing) but my current more affordable aluminum GT road-bike came equipped with Shimano. (I did upgrade a few parts including a Campy Fulcrum wheel-set) Shimano took a while but their gear is as good or better than it's competitors. My racing club was sponsored by Bianchi USA and the vice-president was a club member. I had a Bianchi in the late 90's-early 2000's and won the 2000 CA/Nevada district RR on it. A past chapter...

Ive been keeping a mental list of some of the strings folks seem to like, specifically for my ‘14. I was to use it on country/roots gigs and wouldn’t mind taming the aggression a bit. The ‘02 will stay super aggressive. Ordered Cobalt flats but in the meantime, ran by Sam Ash and grabbed a set of Black Beauties. Just put em on and they’re pretty nice! E string has a better, thumpy attack than the Lo Riders on this bass (and I kinda love Lo Riders). Solid, articulate. Time will tell, but I’m liking em so far.

The only thing that might be dumb about them is the color combos some riders choose. Other than that, fully functional. ...Unlike Chucks which are about the most uncomfortable pair of sneakers you can overpay for.

Speaking of which..
I got my Ken Smith Compressors (pressure wound) today. I put them on my Ray, they added a metric sh!t tonne of low end, but still have a decent amount zing. They replaced the stock strings which I'd assume are Ernie Balls.

Balls suck balls.

:poop::poop::poop: Not kidding. :roflmao::roflmao::roflmao:

I suppose you could remove the serial sticker, and see if the old serial would still be underneath?

Did it! And got both my questions answered!
Lifted a bit of the new serial number sticker and the original number was underneath with just the LAST few digits scraped off (or whatever the technical term is for what they do.) So I could see from the original number that my VS is actually a 2016. The 2017 on the sticker must have been when it was reassigned.

My Pro IV was a factory second. Beats me why. I got it second hand, and sometime in its past, somebody had removed the sticker. The serial under that sticker had the first few numbers obliterated. The remainder had not. Plus, there was USED stamped into the headstock up near the top. I don't know if they still do anything like that.

Mine has the sticker with the new serial number and then a stamped imprint of "2nd"... but you have to hold it just the right way in the light to be able to read it, otherwise it simply looks like a small problem with the finish in that spot. When I unboxed and was searching for some horrible deformity that made it a Factory 2nd, I noticed that area and stared at it from several angles before I could finally make out what was there. Then I saw the barely visible scuffs on the edge and back of the lower horn and thought... Are you kidding me, that's nothing! They actually looked worse in the ad pics. I got lucky with this one!

Vince, what's the tension like on those?, i see they make a light gauge set 40-58-80-102. Anything much heavier than that just doesn't feel right to me.
