Thunderbird Club

Thanks! My favorite thing in many ways in that clip are the Black Beauty strings. Really impressed so far. I just wish they weren’t black :/

I see Michael has posted up about the other choices. I was going to say, it's not like you're stuck with those ridiculous neon strings. ;)

You know what they say about black, that it goes with everything. I love the look of my 2013 VS TBird with black tapewounds. Sexy beast that she is!

What a difference an amp makes! Jammed Thursday with my buddies I cohost an open mic with and finally got to hear my Classic Pro in a mix. So I arrive with my small rig, an aging 15" Peavey cab with my Mini-Mega and pedal board. The path around to the back door could have hosted the Stanley Cup. So I decide to just play through a little 12" Peavey bass combo the guy has. I'm still shocked by how unmanageable the sound was coming from that little amp. All big bad boomyness. By the end of the night, the amps bass was off, treble was dimed and I was in full bridge pickup tone all the way on.
Fast forward to yesterday. Jamming with friends, low key, very casual. Playing through my small rig and WOW!, dialed right in, great tone. So I've fully committed and made my usual mods; moved the rear strap button, Hipshot, new strings. Now on to an actual gig so I can stretch her legs a little. Anyone know a band that needs a mediocre bass player? :roflmao:
What a relief I was worried I'd be relegated back to GP.

During my highschool years, many late nights were spent sobering up with Jack In The Box ‘tacos.’ Disgusting mystery meat creations that they are, ill still have one on a rare occasion, if only for nostalgia and I still love them :)

:roflmao: "Disgusting mystery Meat", Really, it was a meat replicant substitute, some pasty gooey mush.

DR Dragon Skins. Not as flexible but close enough to the same thing.

Close but not quite...

Dragon Skins are "Clear Coated Stainless Steel on a Round Core Wire with Ball End".

All the other coated DR strings are "Nickel-Plated Steel on a Round Core Wire with Ball End".

So Silver Stars are the same as the Black Beauties... :)

Not that it is a bad thingh, though... I'm pretty sure those Dragon Skins are great and will probably be a little less mellow than their other coated strings, due to being SS strings. :)

You can get those coated DR strings in 4 neon colors as well as red, blue, silver, white and black... So you just pick the color you like... :)

I was going to mention the Silver Stars but Michael beat me to it. Will probably try the Silver Stars on my Vintage Pro, or I may use a set of Smith Rock Masters. I love the Black Beauties and have them on several basses. I have the Peacock Blue on my black Hamer Bird and I was given a set of Red Devils for Christmas so I will be able to try those out soon as well. I am a big fan of DR strings.

Kind of Thunderbird-esque...for $200 how could you go wrong?;)

Those are great basses and that is an excellent price for one of the neck thru models.

WHY?!! Why do I get on Reverb at 2am?!!

New Way Huge Pork & Pickle OD/Fuzz pedal is now mine.

 I have little to no willpower.

Funny, I couldn’t sleep last night and wound up buying a pedal :)

So far I’m totally loving Black Beauty’s on the ‘14 ‘Bird. Searched out Silver Stars. A little tougher to find and more expensive once I did. I got nothing against the black, but not my preference on everything. Big fan of DR’s too. Love Lo-Riders on some of my basses
