Really don't recognise that. Maybe my cab's ultra boomy and 'warm' ... but I don't think that's true. I'm keen to find out what's up with it ... but will try to be patient, wait until you get around to having it checked out, and not be a complete pain in the arse. Or something like that.

Not ruling out an SVTII non pro. Or a Strategy. Plenty of time to sort that out until funds arrive
We may have slightly different goals for the sound we’re after too. My sealed 212 is quite warm, but the room it’s in isn’t. I also like a tubby sound. I dunno! Either way, I’m going to get the amp looked after at some point. Probably not for a week or more. Too many other things to fuss over at the moment

I use my bridge pickup as a thumb rest for fingerstyle too, though I’m 90% pick, especially on my T Birds. Heavy palm mute with a pick gets a nice, thumpy pseudo upright thing on country tunes
@dukeorock -- yeah tubby is a good word, not like GenPop telling people to cut bass. Nup, never gonna happen mate.

With as silly as it sounds... that is a feature about my SingRay that I just LUV! The edges of the pups have a concave radius that is just so comfy for my thumb (or "thumbfy"
)... and THAT feature works with or without a battery

Odd... I thought the GP consensus was that mids were "bad", and you were supposed to scoop them all out...

Not to mention all the talk of 'competing' with guitars and drums. If ya hafta do that find a new band. Also why the need to 'cut through'! You're supposed to be part of an ensemble.
No that's 'bedroom' tone. You are supposed to have all EQ at 'noon' apart from bass, which you cut.
hell... if I wanted to sound like that, I'd just get a Jazz bass!
