Good thing I didn’t suggest SuperMegaUltraKat!
I’m ashamed for having missed that. I’ll try harder. Promise.

Nah, just a miswired brain that has an odd schematic to start with.
Or a bit of the OCD as well.

Yes. That sounds like one of those snake oil supplements you see on TV ads targeting us 50-something males, which will help us replace Testosterone and increase "vitality".Good thing I didn’t suggest SuperMegaUltraKat!

Decided to do some direct clips for the heck of it. I played along to a prerecorded Prayer Flags track, but favored the bass pretty heavily. All Three basses went through the Reiner 6SL7 tube pre, straight into Logic. No EQ, No Compression...I explain which is which on the sound File

Actually, I don't have the kind of OCD that some others have. It doesn't bother me when things are out of whack. I notice, but I don't care.I’m ashamed for having missed that. I’ll try harder. Promise.

Funny thing is that I keep hoping age will result in a little less "vitality" so I can think about something else for a change.Yes. That sounds like one of those snake oil supplements you see on TV ads targeting us 50-something males, which will help us replace Testosterone and increase "vitality".
To my ears the 2014 with the black beauties on it it sounded the best. I am curious about the string tension and if they feel less tight on the 2014 because it sounded so much fuller to me and if there is a correlation.
MUK!?!
Good call, Will! I’m thinking you might have an eye for proper spatial relations.![]()
That's why it's impossible to pick a favorite instrument to play. It's like picking your favorite kid. They are just different, that's all.You know, it’s a great example of why these types of things can be misleading and skewed. I think Black Beauty’s are a great match for T Birds, so I’m not surprised that would be your favorite. All 3 sets of strings are (more or less) 45-105, but the Sunbeams feel like the lowest tension. Aside from being a string I don’t especially love (wouldn’t say hate either), they’re the oldest and really should’ve been changed to make the test more ‘fair.’ I didn’t attempt to determine a winner as such. I like all of em. They’re just different to me

Ahh I see what you mean, but AFAIK the bolt have different heads. The 3 point bridge bolt, I believe, are taller past the thread, to accommodate where the bridge goes in. The Babicz bolts do not have those slots
@kat888 Check this place out. It's not the greatest website. Their pics seem pretty crappy, but with an e-mail, you could quickly find out if you (or should I say "your friend") could get what yer lookin' for…

The Babicz I got for the '91 as part of the chrome conversion bolted right on. I don't remember if it came with more than one set of bolts. I don't think so. I have forgotten who the 3 point went to.I did not know that.... However, if the inserts match then it shouldn’t be a problem going from a Gibson bridge to a Babicz, and vice versa - as long as the original bolts for that specific bridge goes with it...
I’m sure Gaolee will be able to answer this, having Gibson’s with both the 3-point and a Babicz...

I went through a phase where I really liked Cobalt Flats on Thunderbirds. I still like those strings very much. Black Beauties (and the other ones that are the same but different colors) are what I have on most everything for now. They work on everything, not just Thunderbirds. I have red ones (Red Devils?) on the P-Bird. There are clear coated strings that I'll probably put on the chromed out '91 one of these days. It has Cobalt Flats on it, and those sound great. So, it's going to be a while. The '15 has Sunbeams for the time being. Those are the ones I play the most for the time being, so those are the strings I can remember putting on and thinking about.
