Thunderbird Club

Not totally sure. I know a few friends feel they get the best results by offering ‘free’ shipping. Just pad the sale price accordingly. I’m not sure if that works out better or not though

I do it, I like bottom lines. Pick the right number and you break even.

I did them myself. I have done a number. The TBird is easy. I had to replace a pickup in my Ripper- it is a bit complicated under that pickguard!
I have done some fenders as well including series/ parallel mods on a couple.
I was wondering if there was any chance the original 'bird pups could've been miswired or something. It sure had a profound effect on my pups. I'm guessing that, with as much time as you've spent doin' yer own 'lectronics, that isn't the case...

Not sure. They were wired in correctly from the factory. I also only changed the pickups in that bass- so the rest of the electronics are still there with the Chinabuckers and they sound fine.
The TB+s test out fine for resistance.
I have been thinking some more about it. I always found those TB+s to be quite sensitive to height adjustment and to be tricky to get balanced across the strings.

Thunderbucker 66S vs Chinabucker

The playing is a bit uneven (digital stage fright) but you get the idea.
Thanks, they sound pretty close until you jump back and forth (easy using the computer mouse)

That reminds me ... @Dadagoboi, what happened to your Bird rescue project?
The self help program I put it on doesn't seem to be working...

Hi Mark! How have you been? Still rocking?

Yep, we're working up a new drummer, rehearsed with my Jackson 'Bird (that bass is a razor!) for about 2 1/2 hours last night - On the road to Pt. Angeles Feb. 16 for 3 hours at The Metta Room.
How about you? New band?

You are saying it's beyond all help? That's a pity.
No, it's just not worth the time and money necessary to turn it into a ~$1000 bass at this point. It will probably be part of a Reverb store if I start selling my gear there.
