This was my introduction to Hardcore when I was 16, this changed everything. At 7:08 you hear a band members dad giving them shytt. Today these guy's are still going.
OH MAN!!! That album was HUGE for me!!! I hung around with the only guy in Calhoun County with a legit mohawk & a schitty half pipe in his back yard
(seriously... it was already a couple years old by the time I saw it. It was made of plywood. We have winter & stuff. It was like trying to skate on a memoryfoam mattress 
). About all we listened to was that album, some Dead Kennedys, and FEAR! Damn... back then we could drive for a week on 5 bux worth of gas...
My wife has been listening all this time. When a couple of my kids were whinging about me buying ‘another guitar’ she stepped in an told them that she doesn’t mind, it’s his money and there are worse things he could be doing. Win.

I’m a bigger Beatles fan now than I was as a teenager. More Stones and Aussie rock.
I think I’ve said before but my Beatles exposure (my parents were older & no older siblings) was from the Beatles cartoon, which I really did enjoy as a kid.
Funny we have been mentioning the Stones (Let it Bleed) and the Kinks for 2. A little bit of trivia that won’t mean much to most of you.
Keith Richards on Gimme Shelter, Ray Davies on You Really Got Me & Harry Vanda & George Young on Friday on my Mind - 3 pretty big songs of the 60s - used Australian Maton electric Guitars on those recordings.
Which spun me out a bit. Obviously I get the Easybeats link, but I had no idea of the others.

Yes Maton made a fair range of interesting electric guitars back then , which still have quite a following- now they all look the same- like a cock eyed Les Paul.
I hear they have stopped making their bass again.
Yeah, they are predominately on the acoustic guitars now. Very much so.
Though the website has a line about ‘exciting developments to come’ on the bass page. So who knows? That hasn’t been updated for months.
I’d love to try one of those basses, the reissue would be fine by me. Australian Made appeals to me.
I like my basses from IKEA. Just saying.
The Sex Pistols, in fact all the punk of that era, was a new experience. It was raw and angry. In the 60s, music was angry in a polite folk/pop way over Viet Nam, but then things progressed and the punks were really angry. Angry about a lot of things. I have a hard time now seeing Taylor Swift or Justin Bieber being angry about anything except maybe too much foam on their latte.
So, one tuned EADG and a spare? What about the two tuned BEAD and the two tuned DGCF, and the two tuned DADG? She doesn't expect you to keep tuning the same two basses to those different tunings does she? It will prematurely wear out the strings and bass strings are expensive. The economical thing to do would be to buy a few more basses to save money on strings. It is the responsible, environmentally friendly thing to do.

I do actually my jazz tuned standard with flat, and my Tbird is tuned drop D, and I would love to have a 5 string or a 4 tuned BEAD. Once I have a solid job after retirement I might start looking at that Lull 5 string Tbird I’ve been eyeing.
Don't torture yourself. Get both!
But, what if Beck is channeling his inner Nigel Tufnel? Is he doing it on purpose to parody the parody of himself? Is it then self-parody?
And don't we all have an inner Nigel Tufnel? One who can clearly see the fine line between clever and stupid but isn't sure on which side of the line he resides.

Could be one of the advantages of being a living legend...ain’t nobody gonna tell him how to dress or act. I sure wouldn’t anyway...dude is one of my all time heroes and one of the few people I got totally star struck over when we met.
ShackShakers did a 5 week tour in Europe supporting Robert Plant, who turned out to be about the coolest guy ever. He once asked me, “Is there anyone you’ve never met that you wish you could?” I figured Jimmy would be coming to one of the shows, or something. My response was “I’d love to meet Jeff Beck.” A week later, at the London gig, a crew guy grabs me and says “Robert wants you to come to the green room.” I walk in and there’s Jeff Beck. It was all I could do not to go all Chris Farley on him! He was super nice. Later saw a little piece in the press where Jeff said he’d been to a Legendary ShackShakers gig and that we were “a cross between early Yardbirds and the Sex Pistols.” I have no idea what that even means, but it’s so cool to get props from your heroes.
All that to say, Jeff Beck can dress however the fvck he pleases
Why wait 'til then for some 5 string goodness? If I were in the market for a high quality 5er that's affordable, I'd be scouting GC's used gear pages for a US made Peavey Foundation 5 - 'lotta bang for the buck right there... Mine will hang right in there with the EBMM Sterling 5 HS I also have - it doesn't have the HS's variety of tones, but sounds great, has an excellent B string, and plays every bit as well as the EBMM - under 10lbs, too...
yep those Peaveys are great. I've owned the 4 string versions. Their Dynabass' are great as well as the TL-5's. All awesome. I don't need a 5'er really. Im not playing out at all. I have two basses that I play in my other room and do some recording with. That's it. I think once I retire and am able to start playing with people I will start thinking quite a bit harder on a new bass purchase. For now I think I'm going to order some Thunderbuckers and install them in my baby with some upgraded electrical components and a good shielding job.
