Not a bad price compared to the few I’ve seen on the used market!

I apologize for being so harsh but I am beyond feed up with Gibson. After my last "conversation" with one of thier reps. I will never buy a new Gibson. Sure I'll buy vintage stuff and maybe the odd new Epi. The Gibson brand will never see another dime of my money.

Ouch, sorry to hear you had such a bad experience, Scott. Wish I could say I’m surprised, but it sucks you had to deal with that.
I’ve not played a 2018 T Bird, so I can only speculate.
Really, the only thing I get a bit tweaked about is how it’s become ‘common knowledge’ on TB that Gibson should ‘stick to guitars’ and that QC has gone way downhill. I think that’s mostly nonsense based on what I have played, like a couple 2018 Les Pauls and some others. My 2014 T Bird is totally solid in every way. For quality, I’d put it up against any bass I’ve ever owned.
I totally see what you’re saying though!

Very nice. And being the gold anniversary, reasonably rare. But US$1500 is more than I would willingly pay for that. At C$1500 it is very tempting.

I think two! One left- and one right-handed. Both seem to love them.

I do recall that @wolfkeller has a lefty red one. I think there was a complaint about if having been wired for right hand use, but otherwise well reviewed.

Once Gibson survives the Henry J. era, we will all be better off. I assume the company will survive his reign. Most of us will, too, especially Vince.
I already started saving up to end his reign.

He’s Canadian. More likely to send a polite email to the castle
Privately owned company, it can bought for the right price.

Being privately owned means may not be for sale at any price. Public company means available at the right price... But, in this case, you will likely not be dealing with current management/owners. As I recall, there is debt coming due. If the debt can not be renegotiated, then you can work with the debt holders to engineer a sale.

But, be warned. Despite everything that has happened with Gibson, it is still a very valuable brand. It will not go cheap. And to make any deal work, you will have to make the lenders whole either with cash or a suitable interest to make it worthwhile to deal with you.

The most likely scenario is that to satisfy the debt in whole or part, one or more sub-brands will be sold. That assumes that a buyer willing to pay a sufficient amount can be found. A reduced/eliminated debt will then be refinanced allowing Gibson to continue to poke along as it is now for another 2-5 years. Things will change substantially when current management is tired, bored, broke, or dead.

The way I look at it is, Henry J. is a man with money on his mind. He didn’t build Gibson from the ground up, he bought it. I’m sure he’d sell it for the right amount.
