I'm mostly a fingers player. Funny thing is that Red Devils on the P-Bird really have a snap and bite to them that mean I have to be careful about right hand technique. It can get way out of hand quickly if I get heavy handed. It's probably a combination of the Fenderbird construction with an ash body and maple neck, the Bill Lawrence rail style P pickup, the strings, and everything else. I find the 'Bird to be a bit more controllable. It also has a somewhat more relaxed sound to it. More teal than lime.

I think that’s blown a bit out of proportion! I guess I did get exceptional deals on all 3 of my T Birds, but once the ‘02 got fully modded, plus the tech bill, it quickly became more normal to high priced for an ‘02 Gibson. The Lollars, bridge, tuners and tech bill cost nearly as much as the bass itself. Not that I wouldn’t do it again. Totally worth every penny to me

I haven't found anything a Thunderbird can't do yet, aside from sounding nasal and whiny.
No that's not it as it has the 'compact' qualty when you are sitting. The strap pin is in a weird spot though. There's one on the upper bout, one on the neck heel which has been filled, and another way off centre, roughly in the position of my straplock on the Cataldo NR41 which I am using for the moment.

How is this still for sale?! I love the pickguard and it has two TB 66 pickups. Chromed and good to go for $1,175!!! Even though I got my ‘14 stupidly cheap ($800), it would wind up being a whole lot more than $1,175 to get it to this spec. Like, a lot more

Remember Orville are different to Orville by Gibson (which is what I have). IIRC they may have been sold in the USA under the name Epiphone Elitist.
This was posted here before, by Ken, i think. I'd like to have a go at this wild thing. Not sure about the price, but like the looks of the neck, at the nut, seems to be on the wider side of things.

I recently asked a seller about the neck on his '89 Greco TB. He told me it was 1.75" wide, and 1" thick at the nut!
The price seems pretty good. I've seen 'em go for as little as $750, and as high as $1,300 over the past couple months...

Oddly, I was a P bass dude most of my life, but I’ve grown to really love the skinny Gibson T Bird necks. Good thing, since it’s gonna be awhile before I can justify a new bass, barring a miracle on something too affordable to pass up
