Thunderbird Club

still waiting for my VP, delivery guy passed yesterday as expected but problem: the package was not in the truck....

No!!!

I am so confused by these 48s. I see a pic or a clip and I think wow! That’s great. Then I see another and think nah...
Never seen a real one of course.

I’d love to try a real one. Sandbergs in general get rave reviews...would like to see for myself :)

So is a green grape cut in half and set on 30 seconds.

I had to look it up.

Like a bar of soap set on 5 minutes!

This one too.

Never set foot inside the state line...

Kansas City is pretty rad and St. Louis can be cool...both of which are barely inside the state. The middle bit of the state can get pretty scary

I can't speak to KC but St. Louis is a great town!

Mike, it's just about a 6 hour drive to St. Louis from your side of the state. Definitely worth the drive for such a cool city.

I would have taken kitty home.

I would have given it a size 11 nudge. Nothing abusive... just encouragement to move along.

It seems fair to say that Autosol is the nuts of the mutt. Where once there was cloudiness, all is shiny. 28 years of oxidisation is now a memory.

(Suppose that's the opposite of the 'relic' look.)

Would a before and after pic be out of the question? I've never heard of Autosol but see it's available here in the States as well.

I'm seconding Larry here, would love to see a pic when you have a chance. My Greco needs some love.

I emailed Sandberg last night about the possibility (I fully expected no, but worth asking) of making a version of their bridge to fit the Thunderbird. I got a response this morning saying that the biggest problem would be the max string/saddle height. Theirs is 14-15mm from the body, and I believe the Thunderbird needs around 21mm. So I guess their entire bridge would have to be a lot thicker. Too bad. It would look so nice on the Thunderbird.

Making a spacer from 1/4 aluminum plate would be easy as pie with hardly anything more than a coping saw, file, drill and sandpaper.

Of course, an electric scroll saw, tabletop sander and drill press would probably cut the project's time down to 10% of what it would be without. ;)
