For whatever it's worth, I don't have any urge to have any bass guitars beyond the absurd number I already have. One or two might get modified if I want anything different. I'm pretty sure the 1991 will get Thunderbuckers one of these days.

The two I have now are definite keepers. The NR41 is possibly the nicest bass I have ever touched, let alone played. The Orville was a revelation -- there's an order of magnitude difference between it and the Epi Reverse.

I feel the same way about the Gibsons. They are just different somehow. The P-Bird surprised me completely. I figured it would be a decent parts bass, but not anything great. It is far better than I had any expectation it would be. Being satisfied feels pretty good. Besides, I have plenty of other ways to waste time and money. One of these years, I might have something worth hearing recorded and exported into a usable form.

I'm not going to be sentimental about this Will. If I keep it it won't get played at all. It's making room for either an eventual Gibson or FSO (quite like the look of Gamma Ps).

With Hank, I had no choice but to scoop him up at 6 weeks, or let him take his chances. Taking him so young may not have been the right thing to do, but I did do it for the right reasons. I’m not a monster

Fostering for a few weeks would have been a good idea, but much easier said than done. So you had to take him then and there ... nothing you could do. This may sound insane, but he might benefit from some company, which would also help with the socialisation, even as an adult.

Kat makes a good point here. When I was looking to adopt a cat, the rescue groups stressed that I would need to have another cat in the house or adopt two. My two girls were supposed to be littermates but they are very different and don't tend to snuggle with one another and they do their own thing. However, they have these spirited romps that are never very aggressive - mostly "bitch slap'n". But playing together really makes a difference.

The other thing to think about with scratching posts and such is that a lot of them look appealing to us but they miss the mark. Much of the scratching is about stretching. So, a good post needs to be "tall" with a sturdy base (as even a small cat can really reach with front and hind legs extended). They seem to like texture too, like wrapping the post with rope and/or the type of nylon material used on luggage. You can actually try sitting a good post by the side of the amp cab and the cat might alter its behavior. I know that this approach works with putting it beside furniture (and then maybe also lean something, like a sheet of cardboard, on front of grill cloth to block them).

Like dogs (and people), sometimes cat behavior is affected by them feeling anxious or unsettled. Some people find this product to be useful. You can put it in a diffuser.

That kitty condo is better than most, as the scratching post is higher and accessible. As you know, those things are crazy expensive too. I seem to recall that you make bass cabs. You could probably go out to your shop and whip up a basic post in no time, then sit it by Hank's favorite furniture "victim". If it works, you are happy and so is Hank. And either way, honey bunny is going to go: "ohhh, it was so sweet of you to make something for Hank"!

Disclaimer: My track record with cats is far better than with honey bunnies (sorry if that term comes across as sexist - it is a playful homage to "Pulp Fiction").
