I never knew what a Bicklin was, and I always forget to Google such things, but I figured you'd explain why you were BicklinKev at some point.

As for mine, we're travelling back to the spring of 1982. I'm helping my big time cartoon need friend Doug work on his VW Bug (remember those?). Out of nowhere he says "Haji, hand me that wrench". Being the only other person there, I handed him the wrench. He stopped, thought for a moment and said, "Haji...i like that. That's your new nickname." He started introducing me with that name and others picked up on it and used it, too. There are literally people all over the globe who only know me by that name. When I went online 25 or 30 years ago, I needed a screen name, so that's what got used.

I bear a FAR greater resemblance to Race Bannon than I do Haji, but it's rare that the person picks the name.

Mine goes back to when I first joined " The Dudepit", in retrospect I don't think it's all that good, but it's kind of too late to change it. The name I liked best was Donnervogel, which is German for Thunderbird, that was Uwe's name there.

Hi there! Please be welcome here with all of us T Bird folks, I'm just back from a trip and the house has women's clothing, boots, cosmetics and Thunderbirds all needing some attention. I'll try to bring the list forward tomorrow along with a formal welcome, meantime please hang out with us! Love your band!

Sister Aretha can have any bass player she wants.

My username came from the early zeros when I figured I was going to end up at Gitmo in an orange jumpsuit for saying what I thought once too often. It's an Armageddon twin kind of thing. It also might be a little too subtle because it's a cross between the English spelling any my own idiosyncratic phrasing. But, it's about being some kind of 'Bird, so it probably fits just fine.

My name isn’t a very exciting story. I chose it for a rugby league forum back in the mid 90s when the Internet was shiny and new; and I could claim ‘research!’ While surfing around at work. My favourite team wears all white with a big Red V on the jersey. So there ya go.

Maybe I need to build a pitbull Flying V kit and paint it red? I did always notice a guitarist wielding a V back when.

Used it a lot since, sometimes RedVee8 - on a car forum, or if I can’t get my preference.
Still use it because I can’t be bothered trying to remember multiple user names!

Mine came from several things that all seemed to add up. I worked nights for over a decade so most of my life was "night life" by default. I have loved bats and vampires (the non-sparkly type) since I was a kid. A couple other things as well but this explains enough of it.

I remember the day clearly. I went to the House of Guitars and checked out the back display case, l called it the turd case. For years there had been 4-5 Nonreverse Thunderbirds there, Craig Grubers modded white one was among them. I gravitated to a beat Tobacco Sunburst II, there were hammer and screwed driver marks in the back. Man it seemed big and frankly a little homely but I was intrigued .
I went to plug it in and holy cow there was this fantastic sound coming from this beast of a bass. I had to have it. I put it on layaway and paid it off as quickly as I could. I remember when I went to pick it up Bruce brought two out front, one was in much better condition I insisted on getting the beat up one. It took me awhile to cope with the lenght of the bass and beefy neck but man was it worth it !
The bass is unusual, it's body is thicker than any Nonreverse I have owned and the body also has a very sharp radius on the body's edge, only one I have ever seen like it. The serial number dates it a '68, some sources say none were shipped in '68 but I have checked it many times over the years.
It's been my main bass all these years,it has had two headstock repairs and a split body. I semi retired it around '09, think I'll be taking it back out this summer.
