Thunderbird Club

Reread the manual for my Mesa D800 last night. Realized I didn't know what the hell I was doing. Reset it this morning along with some tweaks to my MBD-1 and my Tbird is a snarling monster now. No need to swap pickups....although I might at some point still. Plan right now is to swap electronics, shield it, do some minor fretwork to it and then rock that bad chicken. I've also contemplated at some point sending it in to Pat Wilkins to get it refinished in a sunset translucent orange where the grain just barely makes it through. Then slap in some silver pickups at some point. I should really get back to work on my resume....

I think it'd look great all chromed out and orange ............Did that with my Lull!

Still thinking about the new setup at last nights gig. Main takeaway is Lollar pickups, though expensive, are worth every penny. Just terrific sounding. I also miss playing tube amps. It’s just a different feel. I’d only let myself forget because for 15 years, at least 90% of my work was on upright. Now that I’m doing more electric gigs again...
The only slight blunder I made, because I know that club pretty well, is I should’ve brought a high pass filter to tighten up the lows a bit. Things get boomy/muddy pretty easy in that room

So is the amp a keeper ?

My Acoustic Control amps are paid for. If I was in the market for an amp, an MG800 would probably be on the list, along with all kinds of other Class D amps. I don't think the specific amp is that easy to pick out for most audiences in most situations anyway. But, paid for and functional is how I roll. My oldest ACC amp turns 50 this year, and it still cranks away just fine.

Reminds me my Eminar valve amp turns 50 this year. There is a date in there. Think I took a photo.

Mind is going places with those two stars like that. An inappropriate cover over the unused pickup rout would finish the image. Lace and leopard skin spandex, for instance.

Now y'see, that image is something which would only 'pop up' in a country where people lose their sh!t over a nipple, but are perfectly happy sending JDAMs as wedding gifts.

I had to look it up, JDAM.

Joint Direct Attack Munition

That's probably not right...

A little help with that one of you could? Thanks.

'Potters'? Seriously? Canadian English, eh.

I might have to step away a bit to do some consulting in another thread about how to save Gibson. Just because I don’t have the ‘education’ or ‘knowledge’ in finance and market trends, I’m confident I can tell a Harvard MBA grad the best way to run a billion dollar business. I’ll contribute things like, “my Squier smokes any Gibson ever made.” Or maybe, “I hope they go under since they don’t make an active 7 string anyway.”

That'll probably do more good then our futile efforts over at that other thread. It was all in one ear, and out the other. Actually, it never made into the one ear first.

I read an article yesterday that Henry J. believes he will get the note(s) refinanced and that the company will be stronger for it. I'm sure if they were really concerned with the future of Gibson that they could find the article.

Speaking of which, I'll try to find it again and post it up.
