Thunderbird Club

Michael's missus: 'For fanden Michael, what are you doing?'

That is the exact reason for me being behind... She does not approve of me being amongst a bunch of enablers... She's currently taking a nap (she's sick today), and I'm killing time before going to work.

Well, call me crazy, dem $79 PMC pickups are dam good.
Nice thunderbird shots in this epic video. We all need all the love we can get.....

Very cool...

That's Tony James on bass, who used to be in Generation X/Gen X and later in Sigue Sigue Sputnik. :)

Honestly for the price (250 € new, = 300$), I like it a lot. Besides it was supposed to be a "backup" amp, I finally only kept him ...

There is a wide range of sounds available, it's still a cheap amp with low-end components but who does the job!
Coupled with my Ampeg SVT410 HE, the Tbirds can give voice !

Might look out for one then... :)

My brother bought an Epi Vintage Pro in burst last Friday. He said it sounded amazing at the store but I guess the sheen wears out. He doesn't find it warm enough now compared to his other basses. I like it and I have a Sansamp to correct any freq range issues and so he is offering to sell it to me. My biggest hesitation is the lack of a gig bag or case that will fit it. Did a few searches here and it seems that Epi's own case isn't a fit since the VP's headstock is much longer than the previous Classic and Pro models. Any advice on options? I have until the end of his return window to figure this out. In the interim we do have the box it came in and that's how I'll transport to the gig today. Tacky but workable and definitely not long term.

Bags & cases are a frequent topic of conversation around here. Though I don't recall anyone mentioning a gig bag for the Vintage Pro... I do know that Epiphone is producing a new hard case for it. @kat888 will most likely be able to provide you with the specific model name when she checks in, if nobody else has by then:thumbsup:

The new wedge shaped Epiphone Thunderbird cases fit the the VP although it's a tight fit...

Really, that sounds like the pot accusing the kettle of being over-encrusted with carbon. You are no shrinking violet in the enabling department yourself kiddo!

Hope the missus feels better soon btw.

Please don't think of us as "Enablers".
Instead, just think of us as concerned brothers and sisters helping you manage your addiction in a responsible way.

An Enabler would give you money to buy a Bird or would just give you a Bird to feed your addiction. We would never do anything like that, that would be irresponsible. We just bring to your attention that there might be a specific instrument available that may interest you, and we trust you're good judgement on any purchasing decision you should make. See the difference, we treat you as an adult who knows what's best for him or herself, not as a quivering mess of a player looking for their next TBird fix.

An Enabler would use the TBird acquisition formula of n+ALL.
We are much kinder and gentler and know that any addiction must be managed one step at a time, therefore we use the n+1 formula.

@hillerup is still fighting the good fight!

A good fighter never gives up. He's in it for the long haul.

Wow, he's 12 pages away!

You got this! Oops, I should let you get back to it :)

Wow - we've added nearly a hundred new club members just since Fixer joined! Not much longer and we'll catch Kat by the tail! Maybe Hillerup will be all caught up by then. :D

Only one page to go! :)

I might go for the n+2 formula a little later this year... ;)

@hillerup catches up just in time for everyone to take a break from posting...

Crap, I got nothing...

Catching felines by the tail usually has bad results. We might want to stick to stroking.

What?

On tour, a heavy rig doesn’t bother me a bit. The load in and out on tour is usually more casual and the exercise is nice. Local gigs in a crowded city like Nashville is different to me. You have to fight traffic, cabs and Uber’s constantly blocking the loading zones, etc. Then you double park, load your stuff as quickly as you can, then park somewhere...usually very far away. Set up and tear down is always rushed and there are no sound checks. For that, I want a simple, lightweight rig.

Totally makes sense.

Cheapest at Reverb is $775. Hah. No thanks.

They run 625-650ish on GC's used site.

What?

Hey now!!!
