Well probably, but we'll stick around the northeast most likely. I found Rhode Island a pretty decidedly unfriendly place when I moved "back home" in '95, but we (mostly the wife) likes the region. So in short, not far anyway!
I get along with it, there's lots of carpenteering to do here, lots of long-standing, mostly wood houses around!

My brother bought an Epi Vintage Pro in burst last Friday. He said it sounded amazing at the store but I guess the sheen wears out. He doesn't find it warm enough now compared to his other basses. I like it and I have a Sansamp to correct any freq range issues and so he is offering to sell it to me. My biggest hesitation is the lack of a gig bag or case that will fit it. Did a few searches here and it seems that Epi's own case isn't a fit since the VP's headstock is much longer than the previous Classic and Pro models. Any advice on options? I have until the end of his return window to figure this out. In the interim we do have the box it came in and that's how I'll transport to the gig today. Tacky but workable and definitely not long term.

I bought this week old TBird from my brother. He didn’t give me a sibling discount but he did buy me a hard case which arrived today. The bass is real big so I have to wear it tilted higher to the left so I can reach the low notes.

Very good, it is quite thick, of course it is not a case but considering the price of the Epiphone case, meanwhile it does the trick.

Jeff had asked me to do a clip with the Traynor amp, Broughton HPF/LPF filter, using my ‘02 Gibson with Lollars and Cobalt flats, so here it is

I think the effect of the Broughton is more pronounced with round wound strings, but it’s still there. I can’t say I totally recommend Cobalt flats with the stock Gibson pickups as they’re a pretty dark sounding pickup. I think they benefit from a brighter/livelier sounding string. But they work great with Lollars. I’d imagine they’d be equally great with a Thunderbucker Ranch ‘63. With the TB ‘66, I’d personally stick to rounds

Just messed around with all my T Birds for a few minutes. The Broughton had the most noticeable improvements to my ‘14 stock Gibson. Set the high pass a bit higher than I would my other two basses and it cleaned that thing right up

I couldn’t tell if the amp was overdriven...sounded like it was hitting the mic pre a bit hard to me. Sounded a little better toward the end after he turned down a bit. Still an awesome sounding clip to me. Love that clank!

Re tone caps ... if I were to put a cap in a Bird's arse -- yeah it's never going to happen -- I'd go all out for one of those oil and paper caps simply for the aesthetics. Otherwise, orange drop, disk, whaddeva, doesn't matter, with the exception of electrolytic caps which should be avoided in signal paths.

As has been pointed out here before, vintage Fenders with tone to die for have the cheapest ceramic disk caps Leo could find.

Thanks Ken, yeah I'm swimming pretty good, trying to keep ahead of the sharks.

Three of us from that band are doing this 80s thing, one of us running sound. He can't play anymore, some kind of neurological disorder, which is a bummer, but he's still got his sense of humor and his ears, so bada-bing, we have a soundguy (he's Portuguese and Italian).
The camaraderie is high, I'm looking forward to my first r hrsl with them on Wed night.

The Portuguese band was called "Novera", which I always thought sounded like some kind of subcutaneous birth control product. But we were pretty sharp, tight as Saran Wrap over a glass bowl, and became well-known in the region.
Big sound, big light shows, and lots of smoke, those Portuguese like to party, and they like their flash, boy! Gigs were fun. And they fed us like we were a bunch of skinny nephews!
It's fun to be back with those guys. And the keyboardist's wife- she's the singer- sure can cook...

Addendum, @BklynKen ...the prevailing dialect around here is pretty much the San Miguel/Azores thing. And mainland Portugal.
