Thunderbird Club

Ok, so I’m still a couple of pages away and about quite some hrs of posts between these I’m quoting and this post.
But I’ll throw something in now because I lost a previous couple of saved quotes.

Ok

1976/7 ‘Unsure Japanese’ Bass bought new as a teenager. I kinda think it was a Diamond or Aria. It had had a Gibson like headstock and I remember I thought it was pretty similar to Gene Simmons Ripper? On one of the early Kiss albums. Body shape fairly close to the one above, but uneven horns and a single pu but soap bar I think.

20?? Ibanez AEB10E ABG
196? Challenge (Teisco) Bass
20?? Fieder P copy
20?? Epi T’Bird Goth
2011 Gibson T’Bird

I’ve not been good at moving things on; I’d even like my first one back.

That is fantastic news!!! Congrats my friend!!!

My 2001 Ebony Gibson has the brown/pink case with the satin sheet. My 2001 Gibson Blackbird is black/black with a black satin sheet with the Bird Iron Cross logo. 2013 Gibson 50th Anniversary case is black/white with no satin sheet. It did come with an almost vanilla scent to the case tho so that was a nice touch :smug:

I think my case is the same one with my 2011.

Not sure i can remember all the basses i've had since i started playing, even the ones i do remember were all pretty much Pre-CBS or late 60's Fenders.
An EBO and Framus mixed in there, along with a Ripper, Les Paul Bass, another Rickenbacker or 2, an occasional Stingray...........

Just down to;
2015-Epiphone ThunderBird Classic Pro. (modded)
2017-Rickenbacker 4003 Jetglo. (modded)

My keepers.

2008? Gibson Studio V Thunderbird - Ebony finish - Still own
2013 Gibson Thunderbird IV - VS - Still own

For sale but I'm too lazy to list them and don't want to be bothered with shipping them.

20?? Gibson Thunderbird SS - Flat black - Still own
20?? Epiphone Thunderbird Classic Pro - Alpine white - Still own
20?? Epiphone Thunderbird IV - Ruby red - Still own

My only regret bass is the Ibanez, I didn't realize I had the one to own.

Having a decidedly in rock and roll night... a buddy loaned me a couple desktop synths to make bloops and bleeps with. Trying to learn this crap full analog in real time, with no computer. My midi chops are rusty to say the least

I can't even remember all the basses I have right now...

The best ABG? The one you leave in the store. A more useless item I have never owned .
I understand your point, but I beg to differ - they are out there - but they're ungainly large, rare, and expensive.

It's OK with me that you dont like 'em - more for me! :woot::roflmao:

That is beautiful no denying and obviously never intended to be strictly acoustic. I had a Kramer Ferrington, totally useless unplugged as are almost all ABGs. The case was gigantic, shoulda kept it to save on my final exspenses.

I forgot in my lifetime bass list...several uprights (maybe 10?) and a weird, inexplicable phase about ten years ago where I bought up a few ‘80’s Peavey basses. T-40, T-45, Foundation and Palladium...there was also a couple acoustic basses I was asked to use during that awful ‘MTV Unplugged’ era in the ‘90’s. Man, I hated those things

There seems to be a trend on the live local music scene where nationally known bands that are usually opening acts at the smaller venues hit the bar venues for acoustic sets. I am not a fan. I don't want to hear their music boiled down to an open mic night level.

But there's a discussion on whether it's better to run your amp flat and then use your onvoard electronics ... or do it the other way around.

You know you want to... get in there!

Yup. There are lots of ABGs not worth the space they take - there was another thread just yesterday about a Kramer Ferrington "exploding". And I'll admit, an ABG could be completely useless to you and still quite useful to me. ;)

...and just to prove my point, I go on Facebook and what's in my feed?

Screw that... bring your full show or I'm staying home.
